| Parent Visiting Days |
|
Just a reminder that Parent Visiting Days are this week!! We'll meet in the library for coffee and a welcome from Mrs. Healy. From there you may drop in on your child's classes while they are in session.
PLEASE NOTE: You do not need to sign in at the main office. Go directly upstairs to the library.
Visiting Days & hours are as follows:
- Tues. Oct. 6th - 8th grade parents 7:45-10:22 am
- Wed. Oct. 7th - 7th grade parents 7:45-10:43 am
- Thurs. Oct. 8th - 6th grade parents 7:45-10:43 am
Don't worry if you cannot be at the school by 7:45am or need to leave early. We know that many parents have other morning obligations and/or need to get to work. If you arrive after classes have started, stop by the library and someone will help you find the appropriate classroom.

- Monday 12th - NO SCHOOL: Columbus Day
- Wednesday 14th - Flu Shot Clinic 8:00 AM, Exercise Room

| Day Middle School Directory |
|
This is the time of year when some parents start wondering about when they will see a school directory. The directory committee is feverishly working on the finishing touches of this year's edition and will have it available as soon as possible. That said, we'd like to remind everyone about a few things...
The PTO provides one free directory to all 6th grade families and other families new to Day M.S. If you do not fall into that category OR are a returning family OR you are a 6th grade/new family and would like a 2nd copy, you must sign up with the PTO and pay $10 for each copy. Since we need to order a specific number of directories your order must be placed, and paid for, in advance. We usually do not have extra copies available once our supply has been distributed.
A link to the directory form can be found on the Day PTO website www.daypto.org. (Directories can be paid for via PayPal.) Forms will also be available in the library during Parent Visiting Days or you can send the form to us either by dropping it off at the school's main office or mailing it to the school. Please do not delay putting in your order as we will be sending the directory to the printer very soon. |

School Directory Art Contest |
|
Once again it's time for the annual Day Directory cover art contest. Students will be notified of this contest during W.O.R.D.' morning announcements starting Tuesday, Oct. 6th. Student artists are asked to do their best version of the Day Dragon. Drawings should be no larger than 7in. x 7in., vertical/portrait layout, in black ink or pencil. Students needing inspiration can check out some of last year's entries on the bulletin board in the cafeteria.
Students should put their name, team, grade, and homeroom on the back of the paper (in the corner - make sure it doesn't show through!). Drawings will then be selected for the front and back covers of this year's directory. Entries should be submitted to Mr. Whittaker in the art room no later than the end of the school day next Tuesday, Oct. 13th. Good luck!! |
| International Walk to School Day |
|
This Wednesday, Oct. 7th is International Walk to School Day. Walkers and bike riders are encouraged to join the thousands of schools from all 50 states and over 40 countries around the world taking part in this event.
Walk to School events work to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion, concern for the environment and building connections between families, schools and the broader community.
The event is being organized by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation's Safe Routes to School program. There are 248 elementary and middle schools across Massachusetts working with Safe Routes to School, organizing activities and events to encourage students to walk and bicycle to school. |
