Gateway Technical College HERO Center Opening Ceremony an Extraordinary Event that Unveils Innovative Facility and Remembers 9/11 HERO Center is proof that a vision can become reality in education while benefiting the community and society as a whole
| When the staff of Gateway Technical College approached Dascom in the fall of 2009
to provide a turnkey AV solution for a new building that would be
used to educate students in the Health and Fire Emergency Response Occupations, the response from Dascom was a resounding yes.
HERO Center Command Center | Appropriately named the "HERO" Center, the unique facility houses state-of-the-art AV technology within a large Command and Operations Control room, a Vehicle Apparatus Bay, a
rescue simulation structure, and several multimedia classrooms, fully functioning as a lab building for training and simulation in Burlington, Wisconsin.
"Much of the innovation and
training success that will happen at the HERO Center is attributed to
the technology applications provided by Dascom. Gateway is proud to have a
partnership with Dascom for providing AV solutions for world class first
responder training."- Bryan Albrecht, President, Gateway Technical College
In September of 2010, a vision became a reality with the grand opening ceremony taking place and featuring the dedication of a HERO Center monument, "On Eagles Wings," paying tribute to emergency workers. The monument included a piece of the World Trade Center pulled from the wreckage caused by the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The unveiled HERO Center provides access to real-life, scenario-based training, disaster simulation and technology-equipped classroom instruction, and attendees were able to tour all portions of the impressive facility. Already honored at being chosen as integration partner, the staff of Dascom was then humbled to discover the placement of an engraved brick in honor of Dascom Systems Group positioned at the foot of the Eagles Wings monument.
"We
were honored with the opportunity to be a part of this project. We have
been fortunate over the years to nurture a partnership with Gateway
Technical College and their unique visions for innovative facilities."-
Dave Hattey, CEO, Dascom Systems Group
