Government AV Project Feature: Fillmore County chooses Dascom for Electronic Courtroom Fillmore County Courtroom Photo
During the remodel of the Fillmore County Courthouse (built in 1957), the Fillmore County Board of Commissioners and District Court recognized the need to upgrade the courtroom to an electronic courtroom.

In the approval process, they noted that the increased efficiency and connectivity available through an electronic courtroom would benefit the residents of Fillmore County in many ways, and that this upgrade could be accomplished for the least cost if they did it during the remodeling project when the interior of the courtroom was completely stripped anyway.

During the remodeling of the courthouse and installation of AV, the courtroom ceiling was lowered five feet and was made of sound-absorbent material to enhance audio communication. The original interior brick walls were preserved, but sound-absorbing panels were added to them to minimize echo and further increase the quality of audio communication through the courtroom's electronic sound system.

At Fillmore County, the visual communication is now greatly enhanced as well with (12) 15-inch flat screen monitors and two 42-inch plasma monitors. These monitors may be activated individually by the judge for display of evidence, real-time transcription or ITV.  Inputs to the system include the document camera, VCR, CD-DVD, ITV, telephone, and audio inputs at counsel tables. In addition, Fillmore County's system features closed-circuit television for enhanced security and monitoring, infrared-hearing devices for the hearing-impaired and an evidence cart located between counsel tables.
