Aspirus Medical Education Center uses AV Technology to Enhance Medical Training
In an effort to enhance medical training and education, Aspirus Hospital recently completed construction of the Aspirus Medical Education Center in Wausau, Wisconsin, and chose Dascom for integration of a sophisticated AV system in the building's auditorium.
Within the auditorium, Dascom integrated a full-service AV system that features videoconferencing to several medical centers and University of Wisconsin locations, as well as capabilities for recording presentations to a hard drive recorder.
In addition, trainings and presentation can be instructed by a person in the auditorium via the instructor console or by a remote operator at the production control console outside the auditorium. Both local and remote operators have full access to room control, camera control and recording.

White Spaces Issues and How to Prepare for the Digital Broadcast Switch
Simply defined, white space is the vacant radio frequency spectrum sandwiched between UHF television channels. In other words, the prime real estate that [licensed] wireless microphone systems have called home for many years.
Unfortunately for the AV industry, that spectrum is about to get very overdeveloped- causing our once trustworthy wireless microphones some major hiccups. Tied into the new digital broadcast changes occuring in February 2009, the issue also results from federal government and FCC enacting legislation that allows "lifestyle" devices like LANs, PDAs, Wi-Fi, and cordless home telephones to enter this space.
If you ponder that only briefly, it is easy to see how harmful this is going to be for low power wireless microphone systems. The chance for interference, especially with applications using multiple microphones under one roof, is daunting...

Maintenance Reminder: Clean Your Projector Filters Regularly or Void Warranty
Dust goes hand in hand with heat, which means that the air filters in a projector must be cleaned and replaced at regular intervals. In order to protect your LCD projector investment as well as its warranty, you need to clean the filter regularly and make sure the projector is well-ventilated. Frequency of cleaning is dependent on usage and environment or venue.
So, how often should you clean your projector filter? (Here are a couple examples to help determine schedule.)
1.) You are a school that uses the projector every day. Clean the filter once a month at minimum for this environment and usage. For an environment also using a chalkboard, twice a month is recommended.
2.) You are a corporation using your projector once a week. Cleaning should be done at least every 3 months.
How should the filter be cleaned?
In most cases, vacuuming the projector's air filters (and all projector openings) is the most efficient way to clean them. If the projector is used near smoke, cooking oil or fog machines, you'll need to wash the air filter with a mild detergent and water, dry and then vacuum like usual.
