Petition to Save Hollywood!

Your participation in the online petition to save Hollywood from over-development is urgently needed. Please click on the "Sign the Petition" graphic on the left to add your signature to stop the Hollywood Community Plan in its current form.

The Hollywood Community Plan will diminish the quality of life for all residents -- current and future. Variances and established height limits to protect environmental impact will be waived. It is a developer's dream. Developers will be able to Manhattanize Hollywood with residents having little recourse to object.

Help us maintain the quality of life in our community, improve infrastructure and services and to prevent increased density, noise and traffic congestion.

UPDATE: With your help, we've reached nearly 500 signers in just a few days. But, if we are going to have an impact, it's critical that more people sign the Petition and also contact Sharon.Gin@lacity.org. Refer to File 12-0303. This petition will be hand-delivered to the Los Angeles City Council Planning and Land Use Management Committee (PLUM) hearing THIS TUESDAY, April 17, at 2 p.m. at City Hall (room 340).

Please forward this email to five of your friends right now.

With your help, we can reach our goal of 1,000 signatures by Tuesday!

Carpool, Drive, Use Public Transit - This Tuesday April 17th

Density isn't called for in Hollywood!
The Los Angeles City Council Planning and Land Use Management Committee (PLUM) will meet again on Tuesday, April 17th at 2 p.m. in room 340 of City Hall.

It's important that PLUM send the Hollywood Community Plan Update back to the Department of City Planning. The data is inaccurate, and they are planning to force density (this means lots of people in little housing units) in the form of new development along Hollywood Blvd without any plans or funds to build up our emergency response systems and our dilapidated infrastructure. There is no mobility plan in the Hollywood Community Plan Update.

For more info, go to SaveHollywood.org.

Please show up and tell PLUM to send this plan back to the Planning Department.

We aren't doing well with the density we now have. Ask them to put "community" back into the Hollywood Community Plan!

If you need parking instructions or want to carpool, send email to info@beachwoodcanyon.org.info@beachwoodcanyon.org.

Brush Clearance Inspections - May 1st!

Brush Clearance Inspections Begin on May 1st!

How to Comply:

Know where your property lines are. Fences are not always indicative of actual property lines. If you don't know your property dimensions, go to www.lacountyassessor.com. The most accurate way to know for sure is to hire a licensed surveyor.

Self-inspect Your Property:

Image borrowed from the LAFD website

Compare your vegetation with the diagrams available at the Fire Department's website:  www.lafd.org/brush.

Clear hazards and remove/dispose of cuttings PRIOR to May 1st.

If your property fails the first inspection, a notice of non-compliance will be issued.

Evaluate Your Trees:

Native Tree Protection is a critical component to your property evaluation. Don't remove any trees that you know are native and protected. If you're not sure, call 3-1-1 and ask to be connected to the Urban Forestry Division.

Inspection Fee:

The fee is $23* and is charged for the inspection that will begin on May 1. You may waive this fee by conducting a self-inspection and forwarding a signed affidavit to the Fire Department prior to your due date. *Fees subject to change.
