Next Step: Save Hollywood!
Last Tuesday, March 27, the Los Angeles City Council Planning and Land Use Committee (PLUM) held a hearing on the Hollywood Community Plan. Many of our neighbors showed up or sent written statements to oppose the Hollywood Community Plan, a prototype for a drastic LA citywide redesign. For those who couldn't make it, here is our quick update: The bad news: The Hollywood Community Plan is still very much alive. Although strong, our testimony outlining the major flaws in the plan needs a lot more support to make a difference. The good news:
Based on community objections, PLUM has decided to given us another chance to show up and speak up this April 17th at 2 p.m. at City Hall. Save the date! What You can do:
While City Planning is reviewing the plan, email your written statements opposing the Plan to Sharon.Gin@lacity.org and refer to File 12-0303. It doesn't matter if they are short or long. You need to take action to make a difference. Send a copy to info@savehollywood.org and we will bring a copy to the next hearing.
The Hollywood Community Plan is based on incorrect and speculative data and needs to be recirculated or it will put the lives of millions in danger. Urban planning should be based on fact, not fiction. Community plans should be designed with the community at heart, not the interest of politicians or developers.
