Greetings!

For the first time ever, you are being notified of a party that will take place tomorrow. Also, in our human/neighborhood interest area, please read how neighbor Tony Clark is being honored in France tomorrow. Do you have blankets/towels, etc for Linda Blair's shelter? Learn how best to help out. And finally, a brief summary of the Fall meeting of the Beachwood Canyon Neighborhood Association.

Also, Daylight Saving Time officially ends at 2 a.m. Sunday November 6th in the United States. Turn your clocks BACK Saturday night!

Stay safe in this rainy season.

Wedding Party Tomorrow (Saturday) - Notice from Responsible Neighbor

BrideAndGroom

Party alert! A letter to the community about our son's Nov. 5th wedding reception/party

AN OPEN LETTER TO OUR BEACHWOOD VILLAGE NEIGHBORS

REGARDING A NOV. 5th PARTY CELEBRATING OUR SON'S WEDDING

Dear Neighbors,

Our family moved into our home, 2706 North Beachwood Drive (across from the caf), in April of 1980. In August of 1981, my son, Thomas, was born - we flew a little blue flag, and Bill Papalexis sent a bottle of champagne over from the market to welcome him to the neighborhood.

On SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH, 2011, we are having a FIESTA wedding reception at our house to celebrate this same Thomas' marriage to his beautiful bride Rebecca.

I know there have been some concerns about parties and party houses in the neighborhood. This is a letter to let all of you know the details of our son's Fiesta wedding reception, to give you our number to call if you have any concerns, and to hopefully avoid any discomfort or miscommunication or confusion that might lead to the calling of police, etc.

My name is Tinker, I'm the Mom, and my number is 323 464-1743.

The party starts at 4pm on Saturday, November 5th, and will continue throughout the afternoon, on into the evening, and beyond...probably into the wee hours. There will be approximately 150 people, including some children, but they will be arriving and leaving throughout the afternoon and evening, so not everyone will be here at once.

The MUSIC/SOUND situation is as follows:

4 p.m. - 7 p.m.: iPod music will be playing OUTSIDE, over a PA system.

7 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.: Welcoming remarks and toasts OUTSIDE over a PA system.

7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.: A small live band (including the bride!) will play a set of rock and roll music OUTSIDE over the PA system.

8:30 p.m.: The PA system will move INSIDE to our living-room, where there is a dance floor set up.

8:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.: DJ will play dance music INSIDE.

Midnight-1am: One more of the live band set, INSIDE.

We will be using the two Beachwood market lots for parking (thank you, Alex!).

I ask all of your patience and good will with this once-in-a-lifetime special celebration. If you have any questions now, or concerns on the day, feel free to call me.

Thank you all, and cheers!

Tinker Lindsay Beatty, aka Proud-Mother-of-the-Groom

Hollywoodland Resident Honored in France!

Hollywoodland Resident Honored in France

Tony Clark, a forty year resident of Hollywoodland, has long been a celebrity in the art world of Los Angeles and throughout the world. His promotion of French art earned him the honor of knight in the Chevalier dans l' Ordre des Arts et des lettres approximately a decade ago. He has long contributed to world culture in both visual art and the world of dance. A principal dancer in the Paris Opera, he later moved to Brussels to join Maurice Bejart's famed Ballets Mudra during the 1960's.

Returning to Los Angeles, he made his residence in the Hollywood Hills. While based here, he has traveled the world establishing exhibitions of art in Japan, Europe, Russia and throughout the United States. During the past forty years, he built and curated an unparalleled collection of the works of the great twentieth century artist Jean Cocteau.

Jean Cocteau (1869 - 1963) created works in every art medium including drawing, painting, ceramics, glass, tapestries, lithographs, etchings, engravings, architecture, fashion design for Chanel, stage and costume design, book layout and illustrations. He wrote hundreds of books, plays, film scripts, libretti for ballets, poems, operas and like works. Cocteau will be remembered by most contemporaries for his famous films which he scripted, directed and appeared in. Jean Marais and Edouard Dermit were both a part of Cocteau's life and his foremost actors as well. It was Jean Marais who conferred Knighthood upon Tony Clark for reason of his distinguished services in French arts and letters. This was done under the patronage of Severin Wunderman, now deceased, whose collection was donated to form this new museum just now opening in Menton, France. Seated on the bastion of the old fort on the French Riviera just east of the city of Nice, this will be the first permanent collection featuring the works of Jean Cocteau assembled and curated by Tony Clark.

In his fluent French, he will be giving keynote address at the opening of the museum, explaining the history of his years participating in forming this collection, and raising money to build the museum. He will describe the life and

work of Jean Cocteau to the distinguished attendees, including principals of the French government and other figures in the arts from around the world.

When Tony returns, he will immediately resume his work as trustee on the Los Angeles Arts Council and the West Hollywood Arts Council.

Congratulations, Tony, for your superhuman efforts and achievements on behalf of the world's arts - and especially in our local communities.

Help Animals Stay Warm and Dry!

Blair Rescue

Please help Linda Blair to keep the dogs warm and dry during this winter. There is great need for Blankets & Towels

Linda Blair World Heart

Our Mission:

The mission of the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation is to make sure that every animal we rescue is given a second chance at a happy life and a loving forever home. Linda's status as a public figure helps to bring much needed attention to growing problems related to animal welfare and the work required to stop animal abuse and neglect.

Increasing Our Impact

After 3 long years of searching, the foundation's journey came full circle with the acquisition of an A2 zoned property in Acton, CA. The property is beautiful and provides a wonderful temporary home to animals that have been through so much.

We're very proud of how far we've come and incredibly thankful for the donations of both money and time from our dedicated supporters, friends and volunteers.  Much has been accomplished, but we still have a long way to go!

We are constantly working to construct additional buildings to shelter our rescued animals from high desert winds and cold. We're also busy installing additional fencing and plumbing, as well as creating new play yards - just to list a few of the ongoing projects that help us meet our animals' most basic needs.

Always on our shopping list:

  • Wire Crates 42 - 48 inches
  • Chain Link
  • Recycled Plywood
  • Trees for shade and wind protection
  • Dog food
  • Dog Treats
  • Dog Toys
  • Dog Beds
  • Blankets
  • Collars and Leashes
  • Stainless Steel Water and Food Bowls
  • Heavy Duty garbage bags
  • Paper towels
