Keeping our Emergency Gate Open
Mt. Lee - our communication hub

Mt. Lee is the only communication hub for the City of Los Angeles and beyond. It's responsible for connectivity for LAUSD, LAPD, LAFD, Emergency Medical, Glendale Fire, and other vital resources. Click on the photo of the tower for quotes from two of Battalion 5's Fire Chiefs. Since the time which these statements were made, Chief Castro has reiterated his need to have the gate accessible. The Fire Department's engines must be able to enter through this gate to access the water tank for helicopter water drops. The helipad up there is their preferred choice for emergency response.

Recent Burglaries

Just wanted to let you know that two home robberies took place recently. The weekend of the 9th/10th, my friend and I went out of town.  She lives at 2626 Creston drive. We returned on Monday the 11th.  Upon returning she  discovered that two neighbors, one two door downs and one at the end of the block were burglarized while she was away.  Both houses had owners away at the time.  From what she told me, one of the homes was pretty well wiped out.  One of the homes in question is next door to a home having construction done on a regular basis.  Maybe folks should be warned as vacation season is approaching. If families are leaving town, they should tell a neighbor to keep watch or someone actually go in and out while they are gone, or have lighting that goes on at nite.

Elaine Sekerman

Good suggestions, Elaine and thanks for the report. Anyone having knowledge of recent trouble in our area, please let us know (info@beachwoodcanyon.org)

TopGreetings,

BCNA logoIt's time for our Spring Meeting - this Thursday, April 21st. As usual, we have some interesting things to discuss. Our West Traffic will not be there as they are doing Obama detail at Sony Studios at the same time. But our Senior Lead Officer is sending Officer Irv to share the latest in crime stats for our area. Our Tourism Committee (formed last summer at the request of our Councilmember, Tom Labonge) will share their findings regarding the safety issue at the top of Deronda and other aspects of tourism in our canyon.

We're looking forward to seeing our neighbors together in a warm and friendly atmostphere - bring your concerns and let's create our action plan.

Beachwood Artist Releases Video
"I'm Happy Now"

Our own Bill Frenzer's video of "I'm Happy Now" is has a little over 14,000 hits. If he gets over 16,000 hits, YouTube will put it into automatic rotation. Finally, "I'm Happy Now" will receive the kind of response and interest needed for it to take off and become a hit!

We enjoy celebrating our local artists and supporting their efforts to create. If you go to YouTube.com and type I'm Happy Now, or click on this:

Then, you can push the "like" button and the counter will go up. If several of us did that once in a while, we could actually help this Beachwood artist. It's easy.

If you know of a local artist holding a gallery opening, performing their song, play, standup comedy show, etc., we'd love to know about it and spread the news.
