Cat Missing - Please Read

Missing in the area of Verbena and Hollyridge. Young black female cat "B.B." didn't come home last night. She has no collar on, yellow eyes, very friendly, needs medication - and her twin sister already misses her! If you see this young short-hair cat, please call Jeff at 323-962-2438. She may be hiding so please listen for her.

MFP hikeCharity Hike to Hollywood Sign - Success!

Saturday, April 2, early in the morning, neighbors and friends got together at the Hollyridge trailhead just under Sunset Ranch. As a group, they all walked all the way up to the back of the Hollywood Sign - some even climbed up the little hill above it for a better view. There was a strong marine layer rolling in but that didn't discourage any of these troopers.

Checks and cash were donated to My Friends Place, a safe haven (Drop In Center) for homeless youth in Hollywood. Located on Hollywood just east of Bronson, this facility has been operating on a shoe-string staying true to their pledge to provide food, education, counseling, referral services and other resources to so many young people struggling to survive on our streets. If you missed the hike and still want to donate, go to http://myfriendsplace.org/donate.html

Helicopter & Aircraft Noise

Are you sick and tired of all the helicopter and small aircraft noise over Beachwood Canyon? One leader getting attention focused on this quality of life issue is Gerald Silver. Olivia Duke, BCNA Tourism Committee member has had conversations with Mr. Silver. He says that our voices can and should be heard at the next meeting of the Van Nuys Airport Citizens Advisory Council. They will meet on Tuesday, May 3rd. at 7 p.m. at Van Nuys Flyaway, 2nd Floor Conference Room, 7610 Woodley Ave., Van Nuys, CA 91406

Your voice can be heard. The aircraft that fly overhead in Beachwood Canyon fly out of Van Nuys Airport. We need to let them know that there is a neighborhood down here. See you there!

For more info, call Mr. Silver at gsilver4@earthlink.net

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."
