Polling Places and Workers Needed
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How was your voting experience last election cycle? If you live south of the gates, you probably had to search to find your polling place. Many reported to us that they never did locate theirs and if they did, it was more than a little inconvenient. People who used to vote at Cheremoya School, First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood, or the Hollywood Seventh Day Adventist Church were very disappointed to see notices directing them to Grant Elementary (far away, little parking and very disorganized).
Breaking News! Cheremoya Ave Elementary WILL be a polling place this time around! They have signed the papers and it IS official!!! Now to see if the neighbors across the street from the school on Cheremoya and other local neighbors will be allowed to vote there. The work goes on!
Sadly, rumor has it that Hollywoodland's one and only local polling place, Hollywoodland Realty, will not be able to serve us on the next election.
Polling places needed!
Do you live on Beachwood near the Village? Please let us know right away if you can offer your property for the next election.
Poll workers needed:
While the County will provide poll workers (once a site has been provided), wouldn't it be wonderful to have neighbors work the polls? There is a two-hour training opportunity and an application to be completed. Training locations are plentiful.
Let us know if you will be a poll worker.
And here is a list of requirements found on the County's website (LAVote.net):
"Pollworkers serve on the frontline of democracy. Your commitment to public service is a tribute to you and your communities." Dean Logan , Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk
