Christmas Tree Recycling Program
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
recycling xmas trees
Using Your Green Bin to Recycle Christmas Tree
1. REMOVE all ornaments, decorations, tinsels, and stand from the tree
2. CUT tree in pieces to fit into the green bin, and
3. PLACE the tree pieces inside the green bin for regular pick-up on collection day. Collected Christmas trees will be recycled into compost and mulch.
The City of LA Bureau of Sanitation has expanded CURBSIDE collection for Christmas trees. If your Christmas tree is too big to cut and place it inside the green waste bin, simply place the tree next to your green waste bin on the next collection day.
Multi-Family Residential Recycling Program Participation (MFRRP) (Apartments)
Residents of multifamily buildings are requested to place their Christmas tree at the curbside on the day of collection by the Bureau of Sanitation.
If you're dropping off your tree here's the ONLY opportunity:
Sunday, January 2, 2011        9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Recreation and Park locations and participating Fire Stations
Recreation & Park and Fire Station locations will accept Christmas trees for ONE DAY ONLY (see date and time below). Some locations will not be open. They will NOT be accepting holiday wrapping and packaging material at sites.
Go to http://san.lacity.org/tree-recycle.htm for more information about this program.
Time for Renewal - of your BCNA dues, that is.
BCNA logo
Yes, the end of 2010 is here. Your Beachwood Canyon Neighborhood Association has been busy on many fronts this past year. Many have no clue what we do but here's a glimpse:
  • We advocated for neighbors when a huge bank of cell antennae are planned to block their view and violate height restrictions (including filing an appeal to stop this installation).
  • We worked with City, DWP, and neighbors to create a workable solution for all regarding power poles being raised up and a new circuit of power lines run on Gower. We coached neighbors on how to work with the city and other agencies to get the best, most harmonious results.
  • We worked with AT&T, City Departments, and neighbors regarding installation of a new cabinet.
  • We encouraged the creation of Neighborhood Watch programs and guided neighbors on how to get these groups started.
  • We address infrastructure issues like potholes, lighting, traffic and parking.
  • We have built good relationships with the Hollywood Police, the City Council office, and various other departments and agencies. As a result, we hope to get the best possible responses to neighborhood issues.
Your dues help keep this association healthy enough to react to neighborhood needs as they arise including the costs of appeals, mailings, and other related business expenses.As always, your dues remain $20 for a house, $10 for an apartment. We thank you for your support and invite you to participate in your neighborhood!
For more info, call 323-462-BCNA (2262) or write to info@BeachwoodCanyon.org.
Send your dues to: BCNA, 2751 Westshire Dr., Hollywood, CA 90068.
