FRACTURED
PERSPECTIVES
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Presents
FRACTURED PERSPECTIVES
Opening reception March 4th, 6:30 to 9:30 RSVP 323-962-8506 Exhibition
runs through April 10, 2010
Welcome to the sculptural worlds of Peter
Shire, the photographic visions of Fred Licht, the multi-media dimensions of
j.Reto, the video motions of Melanie Manos, the montages of William Haugse, the
labyrinths of Dragan Mrdja, the silent worlds of Philip Johnston, the shamanic
vision of William Emboden and the photo physics of Aldo Rossi.
Affinity implies associations: close or distant. All art
has affinities, no matter how diverse the subject(s) or materials. It is
our pleasure to introduce you to old and new artists from diverse nations,
cultures and time periods. We shall represent the contemporary art world
while at the same time there will be reflections of the traditional art
movements throughout history. The underlying and binding elements are the
unspoken affinities.
The Fractured Perspectives represents our peculiar
vision. We reassemble and reunite fragments of the photons of light impacting
upon our vision. While we believe the result to have a commonality, it
does not. Thus everything becomes a way of seeing peculiar to each one of
us. We are the creators of our own cerebral micro-mosaics.
Undoubtedly, we will agree upon the whole of each work, without sharing the sum
of its parts. A particular identity is established in each of us.
Identity is not the same as realization and
perception. The artist gives us an interpretation, and we will realize it
as is our wont and our nature. Every art experience is a vision quest unique to
each of us.
We invite you to explore different facets of the world
that Tony Clark, Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, will curate
for Affinity Galleries. Come and enjoy these novel dimensions and
participate through ownership. Keep in mind Picasso's admonition: "A
work of art must first be ugly before it can be beautiful". Let your
visual senses be stimulated through sculpture, assemblage, montage,
photography, paintings, mosaics and various forms of graphics.
7065 Lexington Ave, West Hollywood, CA 90038
Tuesday through Saturday 11am to 4pm. And by appointment
Vote to Support Sustainable Gardens In Our Community
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello, neighbors! I've been working with the Pedal Patch Community nonprofit folks for some time. As a direct result of their work, I now have a vibrant and prolific sustainable garden that feeds my family. It's expected that soon the harvests will be plentiful enough to give to my chosen charity (Hollywood Food Bank). Please check out PedalPatchCommunity.com and consider helping them in their effort to receive a grant from Pepsi Refresh Project. Here's how it goes:
Voting is well underway for the Pepsi Refresh Project and
PPC is in 14th place. Only the top 10 will get enough votes to receive a grant
worth $5,000. This
project is important to our community. Can you vote today? By doing that, you can help PPL help those in need. Please pass this information along to
friends and family. Vote here: http://www.refresheverything.com/charitygarden
Meanwhile, we'll be transplanting and expanding our garden this Tuesday. If you want to check it out, please give me a call at 323-856-0260.
