Scam Alert and Hearing Reminder
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
|
Dear neighbors,
In a recent e-newsletter, we announced Free Bulldog Puppies! The person who sent us the email turned out to be less than forthright regarding his intentions. In hindsight, we should have declined to post since he claimed to not have photos of his "beloved" puppies. We were notified by a neighbor that this is a scam! She sent the man an e-mail for more info. She was told that no one responded to the post to adopt the puppies. This person claims to be a Christian missionary on a trek to Africa. Since no one came forward for the puppies, he says that he had to take them with him to Africa. He says that if the interested party wants the dogs, money must be sent for the cost of shipping them to the U.S.
Our sincere apologies to each and every reader/neighbor. We make every effort to give you accurate information and trust that no one actually bought this guy's story. We are reporting this as an internet crime.
In the future, articles like the one about the free dogs will go through several hands for a thorough vetting of the source and the content!
Feel free to share your thoughts on this or any other matter. If you would like to be one of the quality control individuals for this vetting process, please contact us at info@beachwoodcanyon.org.
HEARING Reminder:
As announced recently, the hearing room needs to be full tomorrow - February 3rd at 10 a.m. at City Hall. The proposed cell tower installation will be heard by a Zoning Administrator. The location of the cell tower proposal is 2218 Beachwood Dr. T-Mobile wrote a letter to the city that they reached out to inform the neighbors but heard nothing and therefore they feel they have the right to press forward to installation. The hearing tomorrow is the public's opportunity to oppose this project. The Zoning Administrator will be counting the people in opposition so it's important to make a good showing. If we don't stop this one, there will be no use trying to oppose additional towers in our neighborhood in the future. Please call the City today to get your free parking.
