Dash Bus 208 Update
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Beachwood Canyon Neighborhood Association wants to save our DASH bus 208. A committee has been created to work with Councilman Labonge. Recently, we heard that the DASH
Bus 208 is once again up for review. DASH 208 was reviewed in 2005 and almost eliminated due to low ridership. We were promised
at that point that measures would be taken to increase ridership to secure this
bus service to our canyon. The method that was on the table was to increase or
expand its destination so that it would either take the rider to Larchmont or
to the Grove. Neither change to the route was made so the ridership remained
low. This is a heavily subsidized bus (DASH 208) and we will most likely lose
it if the ridership doesn't increase. Our goal is to offer multiple options to
the City as ways to increase ridership.
We are preparing for that meeting with Labonge right now. We
need to hear from anyone who employs helpers or assistants that depend upon the
DASH bus. Hearing from these folks or their employer will help
us get a better idea of the true cost of losing this bus. What about those who use DASH to get them
to work, using it as a valuable connection to other major bus routes?
If you would like to be added to the committee or if you
have an employee that has a story to tell, please contact us: [email protected] or call
323-462-1514.
