Dash Bus 208 Report
Are we about to lose our Dash Bus?
Back in 2005, the Neighbors and the City Council discussed alternatives to our existing 208 Dash bus. The low ridership made it hard to justify its existance. We said, "If the bus takes us somewhere, we will ride it." So it was decided that 208 would go to either Larchmont or to the Grove. But that change wasn't made and the ridership didn't increase. So here we are again with low ridership and the bus failing to actually include destinations that appeal and attract our neighbors.
The Beachwood Canyon Neighborhood Assn. has created a task force to approach the City to save our Dash Bus. If you want to join us and attend a meeting with the Councilmember, write to info@beachwoodcanyon.org or call 323-462-1514.

Lake Hollywood Report (Editorial)
The East Side Access Road at lake Hollywood is now open. What a breakthrough, right? Not so fast: Some people can't seem to make sense of the sign at the gate that forbids dogs.
Forget that this pedestrian road is two blocks from a park that dog owners find enjoyable. Forget that there are hiking trails open to all manner of man or beast. Recently the reports of dog owners taking their dogs on this pedestrian road is growing. And it gets worse:
On November 11th, a neighbor entered the pedestrian property with his bike at around 4:15 p.m. As he started his ride, he was almost bitten by a large Golden Retreiver off leash in an area that is clearly posted as "No Dogs Allowed".
According to one neighbor, they get extreme "attitude" when they point out to the offender that "this area is intended as a pedestrian trail. No dogs are allowed in here."
Sadly, there is now an accumulation of dog feces on our pedestrian trail around the lake.
The DWP security officers charged with keeping order in this area only drive the road when they open in the morning and close in the PM.
If you have had a similar pedestrian vs dog owner encounter, please write to us at info@beachwoodcanyon.org or call 323-462-1514. Return to top |
