Heather-Durand Fence Discussed: THIS AFTERNOON!
heatherdurand

See Proposed Fence Design for Heather & Durand - at 6:00 TONIGHT!

The dangerous drop off at Heather and Durand has caution signs put up by the City. These signs were never meant to be permanent. The City promised to install a tasteful fence along that curb (hopefully right in front of the actual curb) to prevent another disastrous fall like the one that happened a few years ago. Brian Lane, architect, designer and board member of the Hollywoodland Specific Plan Design Review Board is ready with the design that will eventually be presented to the City. Would you like to see it? This afternoon is your opportunity to do so. The DRB meets in the Village Coffee Shop at 6:00 pm. These meetings/hearings are always public and neighbors are usually very respectful of meeting protocol. For more info, call our hotline 323-462-1514.

BCNA & HHA WIN APPEALS!

rodgertonwallsAs you recall, the Beachwood Canyon Neighborhood Assn and the Hollywoodland Homeowners Assn felt the need to appeal the approval of the Zoning Administration that would have allowed several huge retaining walls to be included in a planned structure at 6041 Rodgerton. Through many meetings and hearings, it was suggested that the architect reduce the size of the structure, change the footprint and how the structure would sit on the small steep parcel thus doing away with the need for such massive retaining walls. No such alterations took place so on Tuesday afternoon, the L.A. Area Planning Commission heard testimony from the architect as well as leaders from the community. Hours later, the APC voted unanimously to support both appeals. Commissioner White said that his deep concern was that granting this exception to the retaining wall ordinance would set a precedent that would have far reaching implications. Thanks, Commissioner White, for hearing our concerns and for the wisdom to make your point to the other two commissioners.

Angels that deserve a medal for their hard work (not in any particular order):

Christine O'Brien - Design Review Board
Jean Clyde Mason - Design Review Board and HHA
Barbee Andrina - HHA
Jeanne & George Clarke - BCNA
Nancy Girten - BCNA
Cara and Tom Rule - HHA
Everyone who sits on the Hollywoodland Design Review Board
The APC Commissioners
Jason Chan, L.A. City Planning Dept.
Doug Mensmen, CD 4 Planning Deputy

If your name was accidently not included, you know who you are - and that the neighborhood owes every one of you a debt of gratitude! The community thanks you!

In Loving Memory
pappa
He was 18+ years old. Moving was a struggle that he rarely complained about - slower and more deliberate through the years, he was, afterall, our oldest cat.

He somehow got out of our courtyard on Saturday night and took his last walk. Coyotes don't do what they do out of hatred - tell that to our hearts. We will miss you, Pappa.
