Thanks to Sharon Shapiro in Councilmember Labonge's office, we have a profile of the projects that are planned for Upper Beachwood. You've seen the big blue signs - now read the whole story. Also, the various documents handed out at the BCNA Spring Meeting are available online. And finally, three little 4-week-old kittens need a new home asap.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Fran Reichenbach, President 323-462-1514 [email protected]

Upper Beachwood Project Details
Project Background:
The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works would
like to inform you of a new sewer project that will soon begin in your
neighborhood. The sewers in this area were originally built in 1923, prior to
being annexed to the City of Los Angeles. It was later discovered that these
sewers contain many sharp bends, and do not have adequate maintenance holes for
access and repair. This project will provide the much needed maintenance holes
to allow for proper sewer service and reduce the possibility of spills and
odors. Future projects will take place in other portions of the community.
The approximate boundary of the project is Rodgerton Drive
on the north, Ledgewood Drive on the west, Beachwood Drive on the east, and
Belden Drive on the south.
Due to the narrow, winding, hilly streets and congested,
shallow underground utilities, the duration of the work that may take place in
front of your property is unknown at this time. Any inconveniences to you will
be minimized as much as possible while the work is underway. Local access will
be allowed.
Information:
Please call the City of Los Angeles Public Affairs Office at
213-978-0333 if you have any questions regarding this project or visit www.lasewers.org and click on "City
Sewers," then "Current Sewer Construction Projects," then find "Upper Beachwood
Central Maintenance Hole" and click on the project name.

Kittens Need Home by THIS Weekend! This is one of three little kittens (4 weeks old) needing a home right away. Here's the story:
Our family went hiking nearly two weeks ago up at Griffith
park, we rescued these 3 adorable kittens and have been caring for them but we
cannot keep them. Clay is terribly allergic. They are all really friendly
even with small children. We have 1 male and two females. The
tiger-striped tom cat is the male.
The black girl was adopted out to a family in Los Feliz but
their child is having a bad allergic reaction so ALL three need new homes right
away.
The tiger tom cat is friendly and adventurous. He's
slightly aloof so he won't need much fuss. The all black kitten is
incredibly friendly and playful. She wants lots of love and would make a
fantastic pet. The black and white kitten is so so sweet and loving, she wants
to cuddle up and hang out. Purrs like crazy!
They are really young, about 4 weeks old now. They've been introduced to
solid food but will still need to take a bottle for a few more weeks. I
have two bottles and will happily send you home with one. They have
also been using the litter box already. Our whole family has come to love these
sweet little babes and hope they will find secure, happy & loving
homes. If you think you might be interested in taking one or more of them
home please give us a call or e-mail to come by and meet them.
They are
available for free to a loving home.
Thank you!
Contact Cynthia Staub at [email protected] if you want the tiger
or the black and white.
Contact Lesley Kyle Wilson (323-664-8080)
if you want the black one with the blue eyes.

Blight on our Streets
We need your help. Lately, someone has been plastering the City poles along our local neighborhood streets (all of them) with bright pink "Hand Bills" advertising their own business. Our streets are not an advertiser's landscape. Our Beachwood Canyon Neighborhood Assn. board has been busy removing these illegal postings. We are careful to leave lost or found animal flyers. If we take it upon ourselves to remove these things from the poles when they show up, the message will be clear and loud - our neighborhood streets will not be litered with advertising!Meanwhile, a formal report has been made to the Street Usage Investation Division. Also, we are considering adding a Beachwood Billboard page to our site:BeachwoodCanyon.orgWe will make a deal with these advertisers to give them free space if they remove all the flyers that they have taped and stapled to our neighborhood posts. If you want to help us, when you're walking, remove these pieces of advertising, place them in a bag and give us a call. We are collecting bag upon bag as evidence for the Investigation Team.
