Organic Farming Threatened
Greetings!Greetings!

As Neighbors in Beachwood Canyon, you may find much of this very interesting. Your Beachwood Canyon Neighborhood Association is having a special Spring meeting, there are changes in Lake Hollywood access, the MTA is planning to expand its access, and appeals have been filed against a local development which means that the Hollywoodland Homeowners Association and the Beachwood Canyon Neighborhood Association are in total agreement!!!!!

Threats are on the horizon against organic famring. A beloved kitty has gone missing in the Scenic/Beachwood area.

Please check this one out and let us know if there are issues that need to be circulated for the community.

Always,

Fran Reichenbach, President of Beachwood Canyon Neighborhood Association

Proposed Project Approved by the City - BCNA & HHA file appeals against project
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Recently, both the Beachwood Canyon Neighborhood Association and the Hollywoodland Homeowners Association are appealing the City's decision to allow a project with massive retaining walls to go forward. The location is 6041 Rodgerton. Neighbors, the Hollywoodland Specific Plan, and both organizations are in opposition to this project. When the hearing date is announced, we'll let you know. Then you can write letters in support of our appeals and of course attend the hearing. Don't miss this opportunity to demonstrate unity in this canyon!
Fran Reichenbach, President, Beachwood Canyon Neighborhood Association.
P.S. Don't miss the Annual Easter Egg Hunt that the Hollywoodland Homeowners Assoc is hosting on Saturday April 11 - for more info, visit hollywoodland.org/events
Lake Hollywood Update
equestrian meetingThe construction personnel will not be performing overtime work on Saturdays and in the late afternoons on the Eastside Landslide Repair for the foreseeable future. This is due to a general reduction in overtime in the construction group. We will be able to open the Weidlake and Tahoe Gates all day on Saturday/Sunday and from 4 to 6 pm Monday through Friday. The North Gate will continue to remain closed.
I plan on getting new signage made for the gates, an update on the website, coordinate with the reservoir keeper, and coordinate with Security to start the new schedule this Saturday, April 4, 2009.
I appreciate your understanding of our situation and our priorities, and I look forward to the completion of the eastside work in August of this year.
Sincerely,
Steven Cole
Upcoming Subway Meeting Announcement
mta Public Scoping Meetings April 13 - 23, 2009
You are invited to a public scoping meeting to initiate the Westside Subway extension project, the next phase of Metro's study evaluating ways to improve mobility on the Westside of Los Angeles.
These meetings start the Draft Environmental Impact Study/Environmental Impact Report (Draft EIS/EIR) process. Moving forward for analysis in the Draft EIS/EIR are two Build Alternatives - a Wilshire Subway (Alternative 1) and a Wilshire/West Hollywood Subway (Alternative 11) - as well as a No Build alternative and a Transportation Systems Management alternative.
The Draft Environmental Impact Study/Environmental Impact Report (Draft EIS/EIR) for the Westside Subway Extension follows the 18-month Alternatives Analysis Study (AA) of the Westside Extension Transit Corridor which considered whether a transit improvement was needed in the area, and evaluated various types of transit improvements and alignments. The AA included extensive public input and recommended the two Build Alternatives for further evaluation in the Draft EIS/EIR. In January 2009, the Metro Board approved the AA and authorized the Draft EIS/EIR.
The public scoping meetings provide the public an opportunity to comment on the project purpose, alternatives, and the potential effects of construction and operation that should be considered in the Draft EIS/EIR. Metro and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will be preparing a joint document that meets the requirements of both the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
