Reflections -- and a Look Ahead
As the end of the year fast approaches, we'd like to pause, reflect, and thank our clients and colleagues who have faithfully supported and promoted McBassi's message and work. It is our great privilege to work with people who treat the workplace as a source of solutions to the world's problems, not the cause of those problems. Their courageous choices, words, and deeds quietly and consistently create a more prosperous and just world, especially in tumultuous times.
As we look back on 2011 and look forward to 2012, it is evident that economic turmoil will continue to be the norm, rather than the exception:
* At the macroeconomic level, the titanic shift in economic energy and momentum from the West to the East will continue.
* At a microeconomic level, technology-fueled people power will continue to create sunshine, transparency, and "naked corporations." It is a force for good in the world that should be embraced and used to its best possible advantage.
As separate "microeconomic units" (individuals, households, and firms), we have little or no ability to influence macroeconomic events. But through our collective individual actions - the economic choices we all make - we can influence the evolution of the economy. And we can benefit personally from doing so.
While this is a hopeful message, it is not a soft-headed one. The economic evidence that has been marshaled by McBassi and like-minded analysts around the world compellingly demonstrates that great results are produced by good companies.
So please join us in resolving to both create and do business with Good Companies. You'll be better off, and you'll make the world a better place.
