The Prayer Path

|
As we begin the Triduum together, our young adults wanted to invite any from the community to come to St. Peter's today (until 8pm tonight) or Good Friday (10am-4pm) to partake in our Prayer Path in the Parish Hall. The young adults of the parish and students from the Manoa Campus Mission offer the Prayer Path as a part of their 30 Hour Famine. In the spirit and rhythm of the classical Labyrinth, The Prayer Path uses multi-sensory elements for a unique guided prayer and kinesthetic movement for the devotional journey. Over the span of about an hour, guided by an audio narration set against a worshipful music backdrop, each pilgrim passes through eleven stations on their journey lead you to "let go" of the busyness, hurts and distractions that can spoil relationships; "center" your life on God; and reach out to the world with Christ's love. We invite, and hope you will extend the invitation tonight at your Maundy and Good Friday observances, to the whole community to come.

Collect for Maundy Thursday of Holy Week
Almighty Father, whose dear Son, on the night
before he suffered, instituted the Sacrament of his Body and Blood:
Mercifully grant that we may receive it thankfully in remembrance of
Jesus Christ our Lord, who in these holy mysteries gives us a pledge of
eternal life; and who now lives and reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

A Special Message from Fr. Bill Yes we can! And we are!
Guided by our Associate, Mike Woods, the youth and young adults, have lead us through an seemingly impossible feat - gathering 10,000 cans of food in cans or cash for Hawaii Food Bank. With the latest sponsors for the Holy Week 30 Hour Famine, and Sunday's offering - we are a mere 1,000 cans away - that's a mere $400 worth of cans. During Holy Week, and this Sunday of the Resurrection, as a gift of thanksgiving for the Cross and the Resurrection of our Lord - I ask a special act in addition to your usual stewardship and offerings to God - bring your spare change on Sunday! Let's be the light that Christ calls us to be. I pray we can see that even that which seems only insignificant bits can also powerful instruments of God's new life in the world, right now! Fr. Bill Allport

From Henri Nouwen for Maundy Thursday
Do this in remembrance of me. 1 Corinthians 11:24 Every time we invite Jesus into our homes, that is to say, into our life with all its light and dark sides, and offer him the place of honor at our table, he takes the bread and the cup and hands them to us saying: "Take and eat, this is my body. Take and drink, this is my blood. Do this to remember me." Are we surprised? Not really! . . The Eucharist is the most ordinary and the most divine ges- ture imaginable. This is the truth of Jesus. So human, yet so divine; so familiar, yet so mysterious; so close, yet so revealing! Dear Lord, help to remember your gift of eternal life..
