Collect for Wednesday of Holy Week
Lord God, whose blessed Son our Savior gave his body to be whipped and his face to be spit upon: Give us grace to accept joyfully the sufferings of the present time, confident of the glory that shall be revealed; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, old sederone God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Seder
Supper
Join us, Wednesday, April 8, 2009.  6:30pm for the Community Seder Supper.
We share in the traditional prayers and journey which shapes our life and table with Christ!  It's the full spread.  Only space for 50, so make sure you're there with your friends.

There's no charge to attend our Seder for anyone.  An RSVP to the Church Office (533-1943) is always helpful for planning.

A Special Message from Fr. Bill
Yes we can!  And we are!
canned foodGuided by our Associate, Mike Woods, the youth and young adults, have lead us through an seemingly impossible feat - gathering 10,000 cans of food in cans or cash for Hawaii Food Bank.
With the latest sponsors for the Holy Week 30 Hour Famine, and Sunday's offering - we are a mere 1,000 cans away - that's a mere $400 worth of cans.
During Holy Week, and this Sunday of the Resurrection, as a gift of thanksgiving for the Cross and the Resurrection of our Lord - I ask a special act in addition to your usual stewardship and offerings to God - bring your spare change on Sunday!
Let's be the light that Christ calls us to be.  I pray we can see that even that which seems only insignificant bits can also powerful instruments of God's new life in the world, right now!

From Henri Nouwen for Wednesday in Holy Week
understandThe Lord GOD has given me
the tongue of a teacher,
that I may know how to sustain
the weary with a word.
Isaiah 50:4
The teacher has first of all to reveal, to take away the veil covering many students' intellectual life, and help them see that their own life experiences, their own insights and convictions, their own intuitions and formulations are worth serious attention...
It is so easy to impress students with books they have not read, with terms they have not heard or with situations with which they are unfamiliar. It is much more difficult to be a receiver who can help the students to distinguish carefully between the wheat and the weeds in their own lives and to show the beauty of the gifts they are carrying with them. We will never believe that we have anything to give unless there is someone who is able to receive. Indeed, we discover our gifts in the eyes of the receiver.
Teach me, 0 God, to sustain the weary with a word.
