Le Festival de Mardi Gras a Lafayette will be held February 17-21 at Cajun Field. Visit www.gomardigras.com for parade schedule, bands, and ride information.

The Southern Living "Tastiest Town in the South" contest voting ended on January 31. The winning city is scheduled to be announced on March 20. 

 

Planning and implementation of events continues for the Louisiana Bicentennial. The celebration is scheduled to take place on the grounds of the Capitol on April 28. The Acadiana Symphony will perform as representatives from Cajun Country at that time. 

 

Final plans for a video contest entitled "My Lafayette" will take place over the next few months, in cooperation with the Acadiana Open Channel. 

 

Planning for the "EatLafayette" campaign continues with the official start date on June 18 and ending on August 15. The opening night reception will be on June 18 at the Acadiana Center for the Arts.

 

Louisiana was the invited "country" for the 2012 Quebec Winter Carnival that took place in Quebec City February 3-5. The Louisiana Bayou Boys Band, Chef Pat Mould and two dancers from Lafayette participated in the planned activities to salute Louisiana.
