Update: Non-Competitive Eligibility for RPCVs
Website improvements. Workshops around the country. A federal employee roundtable. These are among the list of improvements Peace Corps is making to further promote Non-Competitive Eligibility (NCE) for returning Volunteers seeking federal employment.
Peace Corps Director Aaron Williams has responded to a joint letter from the National Peace Corps Association and the Peace Corps Employees Union concerning possible ways to strengthen the Non-Competitive Eligibility provisions for returning Peace Corps Volunteers seeking federal employment. When Dr. Laura Stachel, a former obstetrician from Berkeley, California first traveled to Nigeria in 2008, she was astounded by the lack of reliable light, electricity and communication, especially in northern Nigeria's hospitals and clinics. New Service Travel Program for NPCA Members NPCA members love to travel and to travel with a purpose.And who better to travel with than RPCVs and their friends and families! As you are reading this, our president, Kevin Quigley, is visiting sites in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic as the first stops in our new NPCA Service Travel Program.The first trips will be announced in June.Each trip will feature small group travel (up to 20), hands-on service projects, educational programs and a close-up view of the impact of volunteer service.
