TeachUNICEF Unveils New Website

The U.S. Fund for UNICEF is excited to introduce its new TeachUNICEF website. TeachUNICEF is a portfolio of UNICEF-focused resources designed and collected for educators, afterschool instructors, and parents.


TeachUNICEF resources cover grades K-12, are interdisciplinary, and align with national standards. The new TeachUNICEF website provides free topical units, lesson plans, stories, and multimedia. The new site also has a Take Action section that provides service tips and links to U.S. Fund for UNICEF activities to engage youth in addressing global issues.

Teaching Through Sports: How to Use International Sporting Events to Score Big with Students: The 2010 World Cup in Soccer, South Africa - A Workshop for Educators and Athletic Coaches


Thursday, July 8th, 2010, 8:30am - 5:00pm University of Wisconsin-Madison Memorial Union, Class of '24 Reception Room

 

A one-day workshop for middle and high school coaches and educators from across the curriculum: Social Science, History, Math, Physical Education, Biology and Athletic Coaches and and any other area of interest. Cost: $15 (includes presentations, lunch and teaching materials)

Natural History Summer Courses for Teachers

Chris Cunningham (RPCV Liberia '88 - '90) is offering two summer courses through Heritage Institute of Learning and Antioch University - Seattle for teachers and others who might enjoy biking the San Juan Islands in Washinton State or the Gulf Islands in Canada's BC. The goal of these courses is to develop our Natural History Interpretation skills as one more means by which teachers can create meaningful outdoor learning opportunities for kids. It's a fun week of cycling, camping, kayaking and exploring the Islands, and the courses are worth 5 credits each.
