Take Action on Education for All
On Wednesday, April 21st,
Congresswoman Nita Lowey of New York
and the U.S.
chapter of the Global Campaign for Education held a press conference to
re-introduce the Education for All Act and launch the 1GOAL Education for All campaign,
a major initiative to advocate for universal basic education during the
upcoming Soccer World Cup in South
Africa.
Congresswoman Lowey expressed her
firm belief that quality education is the foundation of community development
and that the time for the United
States to act on this issue is now. The
Education for All Act of 2010 aims to ensure that the United States
will provide leadership and resources in the international
effort to provide all children with a quality basic education by 2015, one
of the key Millennium Development Goals. To learn more about the Education for All
Act, follow this link.
To get involved in the campaign for
education for all, download the Global Campaign for Education's Lesson for All and use it in your community to
help build awareness and advocacy on the issue. Also, keep an eye out on our blog for information about
how to take action with your Congressman/woman on the Education for All Act.
