Speaker Match
Peace Corps & NPCA: Bringing RPCVs to   American Classrooms

The Peace Corps and the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA) are pleased to announce a new partnership to connect returned Peace Corps volunteers through Peace Corps' Speakers Match program in elementary and secondary school classrooms throughout the United States.

The Speakers Match program is part of Peace Corps' Paul D. Coverdell World Wise Schools program that provides resources based on Peace Corps volunteer experiences.

"The Peace Corps is committed to helping returned Peace Corps volunteers share their Peace Corps experiences in as many communities as possible," said Peace Corps Chief of Staff Stacy Rhodes. "This important partnership with NPCA will help us encourage more RPCVs to share their unique international experiences with the next generation of Peace Corps volunteers."

"NPCA is very pleased and honored to partner with the Peace Corps to help it achieve its Third Goal," said Kevin Quigley, president of NPCA. "Encouraging Returned Peace Corps Volunteers to share their Peace Corps experiences in America's classrooms is exactly the type of work we should be engaged in leading up to the Peace Corps' 50th Anniversary."

Developing an RPCV Framework for Natural Disasters Post-Haiti

After the recent earthquake in Haiti, NPCA organized a conference call for Returned Peace Corps Volunteers to discuss ways to help out. RPCVs have unique experiences in countries affected by natural disasters and can share stories and insights about the countries and people impacted by these events.

Now, NPCA wants to help RPCVs to continue with these post-service initiatives during times when they are most needed.

During the first discussion we heard from Haiti RPCVs. Next week, we are hosting a follow-up discussion to inform the National Peace Corps Association on how to help Group Leaders and others set up an infrastructure to guide all of us when natural disasters happen.

Tap Project
Tap Project Promotes Water Access

During World Water Week you can combine activism with fine dining.

The UNICEF Tap Project provides clean, safe and accessible water to millions of children around the world. While U.S. restaurants normally provide patrons with free water to drink, those participating in the Tap Project will ask patrons to donate $1 for their water during March 21 - 27, with the proceeds going toward UNICEF's water, sanitation and hygiene programs.

The Tap Project began in New York City restaurants in 2007. It has since become a nationwide effort with thousands of restaurants participating.

RPCV MENTORING

MorePeaceCorps-MN

Sometimes the hardest thing about Peace Corps is adjusting to life back home. It can feel like being a fish out of water.

That's why the NPCA, in conjunction with the Peace Corps, created this unique program to help returning Volunteers link up with RPCV mentors.
