Educational Seminars Program from American Councils

Posted by request:

On behalf of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), U.S. Department of State, American Councils announces Educational Seminars (ES), a professional development program for teachers and principals.

Educational Seminars is accepting applications for travel grants to Argentina, Brazil, Greece, India, Italy, Jordan, Mexico, Thailand, and Uruguay.  These grants allow U.S. teachers and administrators to participate in work-shadow and observational study programs of 2-8 weeks.  Through ES, participants learn about host countries' educational systems through participation in thematic seminars, school visits, meetings with educational leaders and organizations, and collaborative presentations.  Through nation-wide competitions, approximately 80 U.S. teachers and principals are selected to participate in educational exchanges across nine countries in three continents.  Additionally, ES coordinates 2-3 week reciprocal programs for approximately 80 international teachers and principals in K-12 schools throughout the U.S.

4th Arts Olympiad

You can bring the benefits of the Arts Olympiad experience to 8- to 12-year-old children anywhere on earth. A free global program, the Arts Olympiad leads to the selection of winners from each U.S. state and territory and nearly 100 countries, who will be official delegates to the World Children's Festival to be held on the National Mall in Washington, DC in June 2011. The Arts Olympiad Lesson Plan nurtures children's creativity, develops their empathy, and introduces them to the "artist-athlete" ideal of a creative mind and healthy body: Mens sana in corpore sano. Email the International Child Art Foundation at program@icaf.org for your free copy and specify in which city and country you plan to organize the Arts Olympiad.

Information on previous Arts Olympiads and festivals is at www.icaf.org.
