CSIET's Annual Global Classroom Awards
Posted by request:
The Council on Standards for
International Educational Travel is proud to present the 3rd Annual Global
Classroom Awards. The purpose of these awards is to recognize
schools that actively support international youth exchange by promoting
school-wide feelings of inclusiveness and global curiosity while hosting international
exchange students or encouraging their students to travel and study
abroad.
Please nominate a school that
creates a unique climate of support for exchange students by making global
issues a focus of the entire school. Nominations must include a one-page
typed essay of why the nominated school should be selected,
including specific examples of the school's commitment to multiculturalism and
international exchange.
The winning schools will each
receive a $500 scholarship for one of its students to study abroad or to
be put towards increasing school-wide international awareness. For further

American Students Needed as Pen Pals for Chinese College Students
As part of their Oral English Class, students at Anhui University

American students to be pen pals. Students will communicate through a web site
forum and can learn about each other's cultures through this experience. The
Chinese students are Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior English majors. Students
will be required to write correspondence weekly throughout the semester. Jen
Spolnik, former outreach coordinator at University
of Colorado and The Ohio State
University, is coordinating this effort while she teaches English in China.
If interested please send your students names (first and last names) to hifromjenny@yahoo.com. High school and college

"Peace is Breaking Out" Competition - Design the new logo of peace
Posted by request from Vision of Humanity:
What images
come to your mind when you think of peace? Is it a dove, an olive branch, or
the CND logo? Each of these peace symbols are more than 50 years old.
The peace
logo needs to be re-invented to reflect today. We need a peace logo that is
fresh, relevant, global - and we want YOU to design it.
What is
your idea? Upload your design and if your logo wins, we will fly you and a friend to the USA to attend the Global Symposium of Peaceful
Nations in Washington DC November, 2009 to sit with the movers and
shakers of world peace.
The
competition will close on Sunday 04 October 2009.
