PAX Exchange Program seeks cluster Directors

Posted by request:

Program of Academic Exchange (PAX) seeks qualified Cluster Directors nationwide to work with its two federally funded programs: YES (Youth Exchange and Study) and FLEX (Future Leaders Exchange). YES awards full scholarships to a number of high school teens from countries with significant Muslim populations. This prestigious program is vital in today's political climate as it seeks to break down the barriers and stereotypes between the U.S. and the Muslim world. FLEX is a leadership program that promotes democracy and human rights in the countries of the former Soviet Union and all its high school finalists are selected in an open, merit-based competition out of 50,000 that apply.

Both programs focus on four major themes to achieve its goals: Education, Exchanges, Engagement, and Empowerment. Cluster Directors earn commission per student; are invited to attend a training seminar in Washington DC and an annual 4-day national meeting (held at a resort location, all expenses paid).  PAX is seeking people with strong cross-cultural skills and commitment to making the world a better place.  If you would enjoy this flexible, part-time work from home that combines a little compensation and travel with the chance to work with amazing teenagers from around the world, please email Oksana Chorny oksanac@pax.org or call 1-800-555-6211, ext. 302 for more info. Sustainable Harvest International

Posted by request:

Sustainable Harvest International (SHI) is reversing poverty and environmental destruction in Central America by working cooperatively with farming families to sustainably manage their crops, forests, and businesses. This year SHI will be hosting an Educators Workshop on Sustainability and Service-Learning with the participation of Panamanian educators in SHI-supported villages this August - not much time left to sign up! The goal of this workshop is to engage in dialogue about community-based service-learning that involves concepts of sustainability, organic agriculture and environmental restoration. Through activities in our schools and afternoon visits to active SHI families, participants will develop and share curriculum ideas that can be brought back to their home schools.

All participants will be able to shape the service-learning curriculum guide that will be produced at the end of the trip and shared with everyone. Participants will be exposed to rural Panamanian culture through homestays and other cultural activities - and even relax a bit in the tropical sunshine.
