BUILD A SAN GIUSEPPE BREAD ALTAR! friday, march 21st
5:30 pm at MARKET STREET BOOKS AND MAPS www.marketstreetbooks.com are you ready for Spring, bread-lovers? celebrate San Giuseppe, an Italian festival of St. Joseph’s Day. * * * * * the feast originated when there was a severe drought in Sicily in the middle ages. bread plays an important roll (no pun, er, bun, intended) in the creation of the altar, especially zeppole, cakes, pastries and fancifully-shaped breads in the form of animals and birds. * * * * *
we'll be baking some of these during our Teacher Workday, just one of the fun things we do at C’est si Bon! it's totally free
the event includes a reading from my novel City of Ladies and a Toast to Spring.
