JANUARY 2010
We have finished a long, hard, & rewarding
run since labor day weekend, fall antique show, CBS SUNDAY MORNING NEWS, T'day, mail order pie season, the C'mas holidays, & our annual two week January break. And in the midst of all this and on the last day of 2009 Tristan Mathew Royer
was born to Liz & Todd Royer. He came in at 9 lbs & 12 oz...basically was born 3 months old! NOTE ~ he is just 2weeks old in this cute pic! So we've had three
new Royer babies in 2009....WOW!
We are looking forward to 2010 with great anticipation assuming that
abstinence will be an issue! We look forward to seeing yawl come through
the cafe's doors & breaking bread with us!!!

DEAR MRS. PARKS by Hannibal Lokumbe
Hannibal & Sumai Lokumbe (watch Hannibal play at the café's 20th anny party) are some of the café's dearest and closet friends... and with great
excitement we share with you about Hannibal's
Feb. 13th performance at the Bob Bullock TX Museum in Austin (ticket info) of his oratorio DEAR MRS. PARKS. The Detroit Symphony
commissioned Hannibal to write and compose a tribute to this dear woman
whose very actions and soul forced us as a nation to begin to deal with race as
we never had.... Hannibal's
passion and artistry directs us in such a moving way. A special way that helps us to not forget that the reality of "respecting the
dignity of others" must be the very spirit of our every word, action, &
breath. (Watch Martin Perlich's interview with Hannibal last November in LA)
The CD of DEAR MRS. PARKS will have a launch party at Waterloo records on Feb, 12th
& can be purchased now (to order DEAR MRS. PARKS from Amazon).
