Tonight several of our team attended the Gala Dinner Event of the Alliance of Women Owned Businesses.
I was one of 3 finalists for their Crystal Star Award, and the only Kitsap business woman being honored. It is indeed a wonderful honor to be a finalist, and the entire process was very special, culminating with the delicious dinner and magical event this evening.
While I did not win the award, I am proud and grateful to be among those very remarkable women who were involved. The room was full of inspiring women and men, not the least of which included my parents,
who have shaped, and continue to shape me, into the woman I am and will become.
My husband was with me, of course. He
who has always fully supported every major decision I have made, no matter how crazy it seemed to be. Often he has more faith in me than I have in myself, and even if he were not involved in the business, he is absolutely involved in what makes me who I am.
And my 'girls': Sharon, Erin, Vicky, Elizabeth and Kayla. It is my honor to work with, mentor, and continuously be taught by, each and every one of them.
So many of you have influenced me and helped to shape my path, and I hope you know how remarkable they are to me. I can never thank you all enough for your support; you are the reasons that I do what I do!
Along those lines, we would LOVE to see you at our Anniversary Party (see below) so we can thank you in person for your loyalty and support.
There is no US without YOU!

You may be thinking "How can I help?"
Here is one small way:
This beautiful weather may be inspiring some Spring cleaning, and if it is, please feel free to drop donations off for the food bank and homeless shelters, when you come to the anniversary party! (or any time...) This is a great excuse to gather that extra stuff up and drop it off. We will whatever you drop off and make sure it gets to our neighbors who need it the most.
Here is a list of most needed items to help get you started:
*Gift cards for gas purchases (many people who live in their cars have a hard time getting to jobs, school, meals and other assistance, due to the lack of gas money)
*Small propane canisters for camp stoves
*Flashlights & batteries (Sturdy quality please: for many this will be the only source of light for homework and late night diaper changes, etc...)
*Clothing, especially thermal underwear (all sizes, men's, women's, kids)
*Boots *Rain ponchos (kids sizes too)
*Blankets *Sleeping bags
*Single rolls of wrapped toilet paper & individual tissue packets
*Hand sanitizer, antibiotic ointment, bandaids, mole skin, etc...
*Personal sized toiletries like soaps, shampoo, razors, deodorant, shaving cream, etc...
*Diapers and baby wipes
*Feminine products
*Stamps *Pre-paid phone cards *Kitsap Transit bus tokens
*Grocery store gift cards
*Small ziplocs of laundry detergent
*Camping foods (Canned or dried foods that store well)
*Cooking equipment (like for camping)
*8x8 or 10x10 Tarps (brown & camouflage only please, no blue)
*Checks made out to CK Food Bank, YWCA for the ALIVE shelter, The Salvation Army, or Pastor Art Speight
