The frogs are late. For the first time in many years I have not been hearing the raucous chorus of frog song every night, and I usually hear it starting in February. The morning bird songs are there, but the volume is also lower than I am used to for March 1. I don't know if it means anything or not, do you?

You may have noticed that we spent 4 long days painting, cleaning, de-cluttering and sprucing up the cafe. We hope you love it and we would love to hear your feedback! We are still playing with the chalkboard wall to make it just right so that you can read it more easily than our old menus. What do you think of it? I think Elizabeth did a beautiful job of writing on it and we are so grateful for her help with it and everything else that weekend!

The whole endeavor would have been a huge mess for us had it not been for all the help we received, especially from our favorite retired painting contractor, Mr. Michael Bailie! We call him 'Miracle Mike' for all his help and guidance through the entire process. On Saturday we were thrilled to see our volunteer helpers, including Jackie Aitchison, Paul Gregory, our best friends and family members and even staff volunteers! We cannot thank them all enough and could not have done it without them!

If you haven't seen it yet, or noticed the changes,

come on in, we can't wait to see you here!

You may be thinking "How can I help?"
Here is one small way:

YWCA Kitsap: eliminating racism; empowering women

Since 1948, the YWCA has provided programs and services aimed towards enriching lives, providing hope, supporting empowerment, and helping families to over come obstacles.

Domestic Violence is a community problem, affecting all of our lives. Domestic Violence is progressive, cyclical, and generative in nature. Domestic Violence knows no economic, ethnic, or social boundaries. Children are often the hidden victims. Without effective prevention and intervention, patterns of family violence can escalate in frequency and severity.

The YWCA of Kitsap County encourages you to join us in working towards our goals through membership, volunteering, serving on sub-committees or as a member of the Board of Directors.

Tuesday April 24 is their annual Women of Achievement recognition luncheon. If you know of a deserving woman and want to nominate her, or if you would like to attend the luncheon, or if you want to become a sponsor, you can email info@ywcakitsap.org

or visit their web site at www.ywcakitsap.org

YWCA of Kitsap... pass it on
