Check out our

newsletter archives and read past issues you may have missed!

You may have noticed that the newsletter is a bit later this month. Normally I do 2 in December and decided that I would try to mix it up a bit this year, and I hope you don't mind. No matter when the newsletter comes out we will make sure you get your birthday meal when you come in on your birthday month, so never fear!

I was really hoping to tell you that our web site is all new and updated, but it isn't quite done yet so it will have to wait until the first newsletter of next year. Keep checking it though, and you may be among the first to see it when it launches!

I would like to share with you a bit of Yule Lore that I found, of course, on the internet. It is just so lovely:

"Yule, is when the dark half of the year relinquishes to the light half. Starting the next morning at sunrise, the sun climbs just a little higher and stays a little longer in the sky each day. Known as Solstice Night, or the longest night of the year, much celebration was to be had as the ancestors awaited the rebirth of the Oak King, the Sun King, the Giver of Life that warmed the frozen Earth and made her to bear forth from seeds protected through the fall and winter in her womb. Bonfires were lit in the fields, and crops and trees were "wassailed" with toasts of spiced cider."

We can't wait to see you here!

What do we mean by 'Keep the Cheer Here'?

In general, independent local merchants return 68% of their revenue to their community.
Big boxes & national chains return 13%-43%.
Out of town web sites return nothing.
Because we support other local independent businesses, growers and suppliers, it is much closer to 90% of our revenue being returned to our community.

Spend it here. Get more back. We are members of The 3/50 Project   and have an enhanced listing on the LookLocal iPhone app!

You may be thinking "How can I help?"
Here is one small way:

Wednesday December 21, 5 pm the annual Homeless Person's Memorial Service is at Bremerton's First Christian Church, at 811 Veneta. Stop by and light a candle for those we can never know.

This event raises awareness about the high personal cost of homelessness with vigils in memory of those who have died while homeless.

Each year since 1990, on or near the first day of winter and the longest night of the year, National Coalition for the Homeless (NCH), National Consumer Advisory Board (NCAB), and the National Health Care for the Homeless Council (NHCHC) has co-sponsored National Homeless Persons' Memorial Day to bring attention to the tragedy of homelessness and to remember our homeless friends who have paid the ultimate price for our nation's failure to end homelessness.

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."

~Dr. Seuss
