"Fall has arrived. Behold the changing leaves, and enjoy the crisp breeze. Let your eyes take in the bursts of color. Transformation is afoot and hope is in the air."
You may have noticed that Mark and I are not in Italy with our group. Several factors led to our staying behind and while the group is having the Most Fabulous Italy Experience Ever, we are very happy to be here with you!
Next week we will begin decorating cookies, cakes and other goodies for Halloween and Dio de los Muertos, and we have lots to celebrate this month!
We will be open our regular hours all month, no special closures until Thanksgiving (can you BELIEVE it is 6 weeks away?) and we can't wait to see you here!

You may be thinking "How can I help?"
Here is one small way:
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 46.2 million Americans lived in poverty last year, which is approximately 15.1 percent of the population. It was the highest level in 52 years. So many of us are feeling economically stressed, and have been for what seems like a very long time. Let's boost each other, and ourselves, just a little.
We all have moments when we could use a little extra kindness, and so this month's 'one small way' focus is all about hospitality. Every one of us is in the business of hospitality, whether we realize it or not. If you interact with other people, for any reason, the spirit hospitality can be your greatest strength.
My favorite authority on hospitality, Bill Marvin, likes to remind us that 'the more you give, the more you get back'. This is always true, no matter what you are doing. Hospitality is a state of mind and a way of being, and we can all benefit from being more hospitable, even to ourselves.
He also wisely counsels that PRESENCE is the most critical skill we can develop, when conveying the spirit of hospitality. That is, to really be with people when you are with them, and keep your mind free from distraction.
Just one day this month make an extra effort to make eye contact with everyone you speak with. Including your self!
Perhaps another day you can make an extra effort to genuinely smile at everyone you see, whether you know them or not. Including your self!
The cherry on top will be to make the huge effort to forgive every bad mood you come across in a day, including bad drivers.
And don't forget to include your self!
"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."
