This is the best month to get outside and enjoy this beautiful place that we live! Lots of festivals and fairs are going on, everyone is loving the last month of summer and fun is in the air!
Down here in Old Town we have our Silverdale Sounds on the Sound every Friday in August, from 6:30-8pm. Waterfront park fills with people and great music, and you can make a whole night of it for the family, since the concerts are followed by Movies Under The Moonlight! Kitsap Parks and Recreation has been busy putting together G and PG rated movies for the family with movie theme related crafts for the kids! Bring a blanket and lawn chairs, and have a great night!
Be sure to call the cafe' before you leave and order up some great food for a picnic dinner! We can have your food all ready for you when you get there and what better way to top off the evening than with some of our fantastic cookies! |
Our wonderful coffee comes from Caffe Umbria, which is based in Seattle. The Bizarri family's roasting roots go back to the 1940's, in Perugia, Italy.
Grandfather Ornello passed his passion for coffee down 3 generations, and Emanuele Bizarri founded Caffe Umbria in the tradition of his grandfather and his father, Umberto. The company values a personal business where the love of the coffee always comes first.
We at Monica's favor their Terra Sana Blend, which is 100% fair trade, organic coffee.
Fair Trade is important to us because it means that we join Caffe Umbria, and therefore you, in helping to directly support a better life for coffee farming families, through fair prices, direct trade, and community development. We are also furthering our environmental values by using organic coffee, and Caffe Umbria donates .25 on every pound to charitable organizations who support causes in coffee growing regions.

| Upcoming Closures

We will be closed on Friday, August 17th and Saturday, August 18th. The county is closing all the streets around us for the hydro races so you can't get to us easily.
We will be closed again September 1st and 3rd, due to Labor Day. We are still available for to-go catering on the 1st, so if you are having a party we can feed you!

The blonde puppy is our neighbor, Zoe
Lori has worked the front counter and 'line' for several years. Nearly a year ago she began learning to make the soups and salads, and now she is our Soup & Salad Maker Extraordinaire! Lori is an absolute delight and when you taste her fantastic food, you will see just how lucky we are to have tapped into her talents. She also helps with the ordering and pick up of many supplies, as well as pitching in anywhere and everywhere that she can. Lori is the embodiment of 'Team Bakery' and we cannot imagine the cafe' without her!
If you want to get her going, talk football. Lori LOVES football, particularly the Seahawks, the Tarheels, and the Clemson Tigers. Did I say love? That is an understatement!
