LG&E - KULG&E and KU Energy, headquartered in Louisville, Ky., is a diversified energy services company.

 

The company owns and operates Louisville Gas and Electric Company, a regulated utility that serves 321,000 natural gas and 397,000 electric customers in Louisville and 16 surrounding counties, and Kentucky Utilities Company, a regulated electric utility in Lexington, Ky., that serves 546,000 customers in 77 Kentucky counties and five counties in Virginia.

 

KCFC Goes to Green Truck Summit
March 7-8, 2011

The Green Truck Summit - held in conjunction with the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis, IN - is the industry’s foremost educational conference on the latest initiatives in green truck technology, with 26 educational sessions and access to cutting-edge green products and programs. Melissa Howell, KCFC executive director, will be making a presentation at the show on behalf of Clean Cities/US Department of Energy. KCFC TV

Melissa Howell will soon be in D.C. at Worldwide Studios training with her new pocket video camera. The US Department of Energy/Clean Cities will be using the videos she shoots in Kentucky as features on Internet TV.

 

Please also be watching for the "Green Fleets of the Bluegrass" program KCFC will launch in March.  Program will recognize fleets across the state utilizing clean fuels, idle reduction strategies and more.

 

Truck Stop Electrification

 

KCFC has partnered with six other cities across the South in submitting a proposal to EPA for Truck Stop Electrification locations.  TSE sites include the Flying J in Walton, KY at I-75 Exit I-71.

Thorntons Promotes E85 with Marketing Grant from the I-65 Biofuels Corridor Project

 

thorntonsThorntons, Inc. received more than $40,000 in I-65 Biofuels Corridor grant funds for marketing E85 at their Louisville locations. The grant was used purchase signage and printed materials.

 

In addition, Thorntons offered a “E-85 for 85 Cents” promotion on Black Friday, online gift card marketing on Groupon and Living Social, and  various other E85 related promotions. They plan to run the promotions heavily over the coming months.
