  • When We Shoot, You Score!

    by Anna Asbury, Account Manager

For many sports leagues and teams, pictures aren’t usually a great priority. What is most important is the game, the practices, the teamwork, the skills and drills. And for many, a bad experience with past photographers has left a poor impression of what photography can be for them.

Great team photos can do many things for your organization, including advertisement, thank you gifts for sponsors and coaches, and fostering team spirit among the athletes. Parents appreciate quality photos, as well. Great photos can provide great memories to last a lifetime. Sports photos are some of the most prized of our time, placed in scrapbooks, on walls, and treasured by athletes and fans alike. You can remember your child’s illustrious sports career with a photo calendar, magnets, or a statuette. Besides, what could be better for a young athlete than a professional quality portrait of them doing what they love best?

Here is where we come in. As I said earlier, team pictures are not usually on the forefront of a coach’s mind, and they shouldn’t be. Our full-time customer service staff makes sure everything is taken care of well in advance, so you don’t have to. We also work closely with parents and athletes to make sure the best quality photo is taken. After photo day, all orders are handled through our office, so once again, the coach or league doesn’t have to worry about it. In another step to eliminate worry from the league, all photos are delivered within one week!

Capturing memories is what we’re all about. Whether you have a winning season or you are celebrating a season of great teamwork and friendships, allow us to fill your scrapbooks with a record of those milestones.

    Office Space

    by Michael Spikes, Operations Manager

While deciding what to write in regards to corporate parties for this issue, I was not sure what direction I should choose. I could tell you about our ability to put custom titles and logos on your event pictures. I could tell you that parties are a great tool to let employees know that a company cares about their hard work. I would even dare to say that (gulp!) they are entertaining. However, I think the responsible thing for me to do is give you some movie quotes to keep you from appearing in any photographs that may later be used against you or for that matter, may just help keep your dignity.

    1. 1. “A man's got to know his limitations.” – Clint Eastwood (a.k.a. Dirty Harry from Magnum Force) – This does not just apply to men but to everybody. If there is alcohol at your corporate party, please make sure you consume it in moderate amounts. I have photographed many company functions where party goers begin behaving like a scene from Animal House. Save the drunken antics for when you go “clubbin”. While we are on the subject of moderation, I think this should go for the food as well.
    2. 2. “Do you prefer "fashion victim" or "ensembly challenged"? – Alicia Silverstone (a.k.a. Cher from Clueless) – While it is not expected that you should know what an ascot is, you should at least know what to wear to your party. Men, if you sit in a suit and tie all day, it may be tempting to show off those leather pants you bought in 1973, but I would strongly urge you to resist temptation and go with something more conservative. If you are still in doubt, ask a female friend. Women, it may be tempting to wear something revealing, but let me tell you, I have seen so many “wardrobe malfunctions” that I have the FCC on speed dial.
    3. 3. “Mr. Burgundy, I am a professional and I would like to do my job” - Christina Applegate (a.k.a. Veronica Corningstone from Anchorman) – We spend a lot of time with our coworkers, so much time that we may even become friends with them. Sometimes, you may find yourself involved romantically with that person. If this is the case, I hope you are familiar with your company’s policies on office dating. Because if you are not, you may be both heading for the unemployment line or worse, placing your company at risk for a sexual harassment claim. If you are involved with someone at work, keep your communications and your body language professional while surrounded by colleagues. That goes doubly when being photographed.

A photographer at your corporate event can help people to break out of their comfort zone, meet new people within the company, and network with coworkers by getting folks together for a photo. Now that you know what not to do all I can say is

    The End

    Graduation Photos

    by Gene Mangiante, President

Graduation is a special time for both students and their families. It is a moment that they will treasure for a lifetime, and capturing those moments is our specialty. During a graduation, we photograph every student who participates in the commencement ceremony. Those students will receive complimentary proofs mailed directly to their home within a few days of the ceremony. We also send a proof via email with a link to order photos online. Students can order a wide variety of print sizes or packages, and can order them online, by phone, fax or mail. We have package prices to meet any budget, and when a student places an order, within 48 hours it is printed and shipped directly from our lab to the student. The school never has to worry about dealing with any prints, proofs or shipping!

Mangiante Photography also offers titled photos with the school name, commencement date, and even the school crest or seal. We provide these services plus photography of the ceremony at no cost to the school! In fact, as a thank you, we’ll give a photo CD with the pictures from graduation day for the school to keep. Below is a list of the types of photos you can expect us to deliver and the benefits of our service, and keep in mind that we can customize all this to fit your schedule and needs:

    • Handshake Photo: We take a picture of each student shaking the administrator's hand when they receive their diploma.
    • Quick Cap: Prior to the ceremony, or immediately following the graduate leaving the stage, we will photograph every graduate in front of either an American and State flags or a studio backdrop
    • Overview: We’ll take an overview of the whole class, either sitting during the ceremony, or prior to the event.
    • Hooding Ceremony: If you have a Masters program, we will photograph the students receiving their hoods, as they are placed on their shoulders.

    Additional Benefits:

    • All orders and money collection are handled by our office
    • Does not slow down the ceremony
    • Knowledgeable and professional photographers
    • Proofs are mailed within 3 days of the ceremony, directly to the students
    • Photos can be viewed online one business day after an event
    • Order online anytime, anywhere with a credit card, debit card or online check.
    • Orders processed within 24 hours of ordering online
    • Finished prints received in as little as 3 days
