Member Artists Gallery - 2009 Themed
Exhibits
Due August 1: entries for Dia de los Muertos exhibit,
October 17-November 7
Here is some information that may help you respond to the
challenge of this call:
- The spirit of Dia de los Muertos is not morbid. It is a
festive time!
- It is a celebration of the cycle & continuity of
life--this includes memorializing loved ones who have died as well as
celebrating life and children.
- It is a holiday with a complex and interesting history, and
therefore its observance varies quite a bit by region and degree of
urbanization.
- You may choose to represent it through imagery that is typical of the
indigenous Mexican holiday, i.e., skulls and marigolds, etc. Or draw upon your
own cultural heritage for imagery to represent the universal theme of
memorial and/or life cycle.
Due September 1: entries
for Small Gems exhibit, November 10 - January
13 .

The Blue Line Artists Library Committee
Invites
you to participate in our
Magazine Sale
Saturday,
August 15, 1-8pm &
Monday,
August 17, 12-4pm
At the Blue Line Gallery
The committee has decided to
focus our limited storage space for books and magazines to art subject and
skill information for both adults and children. We are avoiding individual
artist works and biographies since these are readily available in public libraries.
We are raising funds for the materials and equipment. This fundraiser will
focus on magazine sales.
You can help us in two ways:
-
Donate
Magazines - (no older than 10
yrs.) that are of interest to artists or art enthusiasts, including
National Geographic. Bring your boxed magazines on Thurs., 8/13, 10-5 at the
Blue Line Gallery.
-
Come
to the sale and buy! Prices
under a dollar! Bring "green bags" to carry your "treasures" home.
