Our Holiday Tree of Hope is Back!
Every year, Young at Heart puts up the virtual Tree of Hope in the holiday spirit for our rescued dogs and cats. For each donation, we "hang" a virtual ornament on the tree in your name. The different colored ornaments you can purchase shows you what your donation helps us provide for our rescued dogs and cats.
Donating is easy! Click on the ornament to go to our Donate page, and for Dedication, put "Tree of Hope", and we'll hang your ornament on the virtual tree for everyone to see! You may also dedicate your donation to someone as a thank you or holiday gift by simply choosing "in honor of" or "in memory of", and we'll send them an acknowledgement of your gift! Just remember to put "Tree of Hope" in there, too!

Volunteers Needed!
We are in need of two volunteers to drive two dogs to and from a photo shoot with Petraits in Chicago to help them get homes they so desperately need for the holidays!
Maggie- Palatine to Chicago and back
Sassy- Grayslake to Chicago and back
Schedule is flexible! Let us know which dog you could help transport two and from the studios. Leash and collar will be provided. You'll have to sign a volunteer release. If you can help, plese email us at info@yahpetrescue.com

Sanctuary News
At 16 1/2 years old, we said goodbye to Sparky, a sweet and gentle soul who has graced our Sanctuary Program with her happy disposition and love for the last 2 1/2 years. Sparky came to Young at Heart when her owners were going to euthanize her because she was diagnosed with Diabetes. Sparky's foster mom, Pam, and the rest of her family, cared for her as one of their own while Young at Heart made sure she received her insulin and other medications to keep her healthy. We will forever miss her goat-like appetite and her willingness to do just about anything for a treat. We know for sure that Sparky is waiting at the biscuit tree in Dog Heaven with all the other good dogs who have gone before her.
Hello Galena
Young at Heart welcomes Galena into our Sanctuary Program after waiting for a home for over 3 years now. Galena will remain with her loving foster mom, Carla, who has agreed to be Galena's Sanctuary Home. Young at Heart will financially care for Galena for the remainder of her life, while she enjoys all the comforts of home with her foster mom, who she knows and loves. Galena is the oldest animal at Young at Heart, with an age guesstimate of 18 years young. Galena is truly "young at heart", still playing like a kitten and racing through the house. Galena recieves regular injections for an autoimmune disorder that makes her itchy and affects her skin. With the injections controlling the itching, Galena will be able to enjoy life to the fullest. Welcome, Galena! | |
