Happy March From Your Greater University Chamber

March 2011

Greetings!

We appreciate your involvement and interest in the U District Chamber and community news. In an effort to conserve paper, limit costs, and increase overall efficiency, GUCC newsletters and announcements will be distributed primarily in an online format.

We would be happy to add anyone to our email address list if they contact us at programs@udistrictchamber.org.

Take an opportunity to view the current art exhibits up at participating venues around the University District including featured artist Lis Wright Ivec showing at Gargoyles Statuary located at 4550 University Way NE.

Be sure to check out the
new March
Artwalk as venues stay open late to showcase local artists on March 18th from 6-9pm. View the map of participants on line at the link above.

New Chamber Employee:

Meet Our Grants/Events Manager

Eleana Pawl has joined the Greater University Chamber of Commerce as Grants/Events Manager. She is not a stranger to the U-District. Her involvement began in 2002 when she was hired to design the StreetFair poster.

The same year, Eleana volunteered as designer and then steering committee member for the U-District Youth and Community Project. UYAP employed homeless youth to beautify the U-District and help build better community relations by formally meeting with the police (Donut Dialogues) and the merchants (Coffee Conversations).

Eleana went on to do other design work for the U-District Chamber including the current identity (logo), the first Community Guide maps, and subsequent StreetFairs.

Eleana is thrilled and honored to be working for the University District Community.
