Members and Friends:
We hope you can join us on May 15th at the VBSR Spring Conference: Creating Pathways for Vermont's Next Business Generation where we will consider how to best ensure the development of our future community and business leaders.
How do we best direct our precious educational resources ? How do we adapt our workplaces to support and develop talented people?  What are the expectations about employees allegiance to a company--or is that even a relevant concept these days?  We will explore these and many other topics and we hope you will be part of the conversation.
Register before May 9 to take advantage of early bird rates.
You may have noticed that this year we are moving the annual Terry Ehrich Award Reception off the boat and over to Echo Lake Aquarium.  See the announcement below about the amazing lady who is the recipient of this years prestigious award.
We are also excited to announce a new collaboration with Vermont HITEC to bring the Vermont Intern Program to more businesses and students and expand our program reach. Be in touch if you think an intern would help your business.
Finally, we are delighted to announce that Scott Buckingham has joined the VBSR team as our new Membership Manager- welcome Scott !
Hope to see you on May 14 at the Terry Ehrich Reception and on May 15 at the Spring Conference.  It is always good to take some time away from the usual to explore the possible (and have some fun all the while) .

VBSR Public Policy

The 2012 session of the Vermont Legislature is just weeks away from ending with many bills waiting for action. Lawmakers continue to work on health care reform, reconstruction from the Irene flooding, and addressing holes in the state budget.  Link here for an update on some of the bills VBSR has been working this year.

The Health Insurance Exchange - an on-line marketplace for selling and buying health insurance - has been a hot topic at the Statehouse during the 2012 session. But what do Vermonters - those living outside of the influence of Montpelier's Golden Dome - think of the Exchange? The Department of Vermont Health Access polled 1,004 residents over two weeks at the end of March. Link here to see some of the poll responses.

If you have missed past issues of VBSR's weekly updates you can always find them on the VBSR website.  We are always looking for members who want to participate in policy-making, including testifying at the Statehouse or writing letters to lawmakers. If you would like to get involved, please email Dan  and tell us what issues matter to you
