DTEDTE Energy Workshop October 4

TouchTruckSecond Annual Touch-a-Truck Fundraiser for Area Youth Groups 

 

Touch-a-Truck is an exciting, fun event for preschool and elementary school-aged children residing in the Bloomfield Hills and West Bloomfield Hills School Districts. The event is held in conjunction with the Bloomfield Youth Guidance and West Bloomfield Youth Assistance Groups. 

 

These groups provide prevention-related programs and counseling services to children and families.  Specific programs include child and family counseling by professional counselors, educational enrichment programs, mentoring, and recognition of District students who have proven to be outstanding citizens.

 

The Touch-a-Truck event will be held on Saturday, October 1, from 10 am to 2 pm, at Pine Lake Elementary School in West Bloomfield. This fun-filed day will consist of a display of BIG trucks and construction equipment that the children can see up-close and personal. Entry fee is just $5 per family. 

 

Sponsorship opportunities are available for this event!  Choose from several different participation levels: Truck/Construction Equipment Display; Display Sign Program; Booth Program; Community Service Program; or Event Sponsor.

BCBS922Join Us for the 7th Annual Boy Scouts Building Connections  

 

On Thursday, September 22, CAM will hold its 7th Annual Boy Scouts Building Connections networking and fundraising event. This year's venue is The Parade Company in Detroit, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. All proceeds raised will go to benefit the Boy Scouts of America, Great Lakes Council.     

 

Mixing business with fun is the goal for the evening. Come enjoy gourmet food stations, open bar, exhibits, networking and fellowship - all amongst giant clown heads!  This venue promises to be unique and exciting. See the parade floats up close and personal in this impressive warehouse.


The Boy Scout Building Connections event is a worthy cause that promises to be a VIP experience from start to finish. Corporate sponsorships are available at several levels, and individual tickets are available as well.

BelianCAM Member Gerald Belian, PE, Inducted Into ESD College of Fellows

 

Soil and Materials Engineers, Inc. (SME), Plymouth, is pleased to announce that Gerald M. (Jerry) Belian, PE, has been inducted into the Engineering Society of Detroit's (ESD) College of Fellows. The announcement was made at the 2011 ESD Annual Dinner held on June 23 in Detroit.

 

ESD Fellows are members of unusual distinction, conferred by invitation of the ESD's Board of Directors for outstanding and extraordinary qualifications and experience in their profession, and evidenced by accomplishments in the following major areas: technical achievement, professional achievement, ESD service and leadership, and professional society service and leadership; and demonstrated through honors and awards, publications and patents, and academic and community service and leadership.

 

Belian, a vice president and principal at SME, was nominated by his ESD peers for his technical and professional achievements and his commitment to the engineering profession, and for serving as a leader in the industry.  He serves on the ESD's Construction and Design Committee, Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, and Annual Economic Forecast Committee, and as a judge for the annual Future Cities competition. He also has participated in the ESD Institute's Lean Green Schools Symposium. As well, Belian regularly mentors students interested in pursuing a career in engineering.

 

Belian is also a Fellow of the National Society of Professional Engineers and of the American Society of Civil Engineers. 

FallClaysCAM Fall Sporting Clays - September 27 

 

CAM's final Sporting Clays of 2011 will take place at Hunters Creek Club in Metamora, on Tuesday, September 27.  Spaces are still available for shooters!

The day begins with an optional warm-up practice shoot at 10:00 am.  Lunch will be served at Noon, followed by a mandatory firearms safety orientation. All participants must bring their own 12 or 20 gauge shotgun, and will have the opportunity to shoot up to 50 targets. The shoot will begin at 1:30 pm, concluding with a delicious perch dinner, awards and door prizes.

DTWContractor / Subcontractor Outreach & Information Session for Runway Construction Project 
 

DTW Runway 4R/22L

 

This session will be held on Thursday, September 22, from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at the Marriott - Detroit Metro Airport, 30559 Flynn Drive, Romulus, MI 48174.

 

Who should attend? Contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers interested in participating on future DTW airfield reconstruction projects, including the reconstruction of Runway 4R/22L (12,003') and associated taxiways at DTW.  Field Superintendents familiar with airfield construction within a fully operational airport are especially encouraged to attend.
