Welcome to the Community Resource Center

Greetings!

April is one of my favorite months: time to celebrate the wonderful work of volunteers.  National Volunteer Week will be April 15th - April 21st.

The generous contribution of volunteers' time and talents make CRC's valuable work possible. Our rural volunteers dedicate countless hours to the planning of Rural Philanthropy Days events across the state.  Volunteers at the CRC office work tirelessly to keep the Colorado Grants Guide funder profiles up-to-date for our many subscribers.  Volunteer coaches ensure that participants in the Colorado Nonprofit Leadership and Management Program benefit from personalized support.  These are just a few of the many ways that volunteers make a difference at CRC.

So to all volunteers, at CRC and across the state, thank you for all that you do.  Your dedication makes a difference!

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead

Respectfully,

Navigating Legal Landmines

What is the greatest threat to your Mission? If you think it's funding, think again.

Are you LOST? When it comes to protecting their missions, many small and medium-sized nonprofits find themselves in the state of LOST:
  • Lack of awareness and education
  • Over-worked and under-resourced
  • Sense of invulnerability due to their good works and mission focus
  • Tempted to deny or ignore the facts

Unfortunately only about 20% of nonprofit risks are insurable. Uninsured risks can pose serious threats to nonprofit missions. Defending a single lawsuit, paying IRS penalties and excise taxes or losing tax exempt status could seriously jeopardize an organization's ability to deliver its mission. What you DON'T KNOW can leave your organization extremely vulnerable.

Register by April 12th for the Early Bird pricing!
