Greetings!

At a technology conference last year, Google's outgoing CEO Eric Schmidt tried to put our current "information explosion" into historical perspective. Today, he said, we create as much information in 48 hours - five billion gigabytes worth - as was created "between the birth of the world and 2003." It's an astonishing comparison, which illuminates something important about the times we live in.

We are all inundated with too much data and information. How do we sort through it all? How do we know what is worth reading?

One way to deal with "information overload" and identify good and useful information is to rely on trusted sources. For Colorado nonprofits, there is no lack of resources.

  • Community Resource Center (CRC) is a trusted resource for the skills and knowledge needed to run a successful community based organization.
  • For volunteer management and engagement, Metro Volunteers is a proven resource.
  • Colorado Nonprofit Association (CNA) is a reliable advocate and source for public policy that impacts nonprofits.
  • For nonprofit fiscal responsibility for nonprofits issues, the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center (CNDC) is a good source.
  • The Nonprofit Resources is a good resource for risk management questions.
  • Community Shares of Colorado and your local United Way are both excellent resources for work place giving.

As you can see from the list above, Colorado has an abundance of "trusted" sources to turn to should the nonprofit you are involved with have a question or need professional advice on any topic related to nonprofit management.

If you Google "nonprofit resources Colorado" you will find over 12 million sites (yes, million!) I would, however, encourage you to look in your "back yard" and tap into the knowledge, expertise, and experience of the staff and volunteers of Community Resource Center, and other local capacity building organizations  dedicated to helping the Colorado nonprofit sector do its good work better!

Thank you for all the work you do, may 2012 find you, and the organizations you are dedicated to, happy, healthy, and successful.

From the Board, Staff and Volunteers of the Community Resource Center, Happy Holidays and a Joyous New Year!

Carol

2011 Leaders

"This has been an incredibly valuable year for me. It provided
much food for thought for growing our organization and a new personal sense of belief in what is real and possible for me as a leader. I understand that leadership development is an on-going process. The Executive Directors in this group are among the most talented and I am thankful and honored to be a part of this network of statewide leaders.

This is one of those experiences that will keep on giving long after graduation. Thank you fellow leaders, presenters, and CRC staff for giving us this career-enhancing opportunity!"

-2011 Leader
