Dear Friends of CRC: After serving as CRC's Interim Co-Directors for nearly a year, Kelleen Zubick and I will be turning the reins over to CRC's new permanent Executive Director, Carol Nickell, in January. You can learn more about Carol below. We, along with the CRC Board and staff, warmly welcome Carol to CRC and wish her the best in her new role.
With Carol's hiring, Kelleen and I will both be transitioning to new roles, with Kelleen leaving CRC at the end December. Kelleen has enjoyed over six years of rewarding and varied association with CRC, including serving as a volunteer mentor in CRC's Nonprofit Leadership and Management Program to serving as the organization's Director of Consulting, and most recently as Interim Co-Director.
Having successfully worked with CRC's board and staff to enhance CRC's sustainability and enhance CRC's core programs and services over the last year, Kelleen is looking forward to continuing the work she loves most-capacity building with nonprofits and community groups-as an independent consultant. We are very sad to see Kelleen leave CRC, as she has made a tremendously positive impact on the organization over the last six years. While at CRC, Kelleen has not only provided outstanding service to her consulting clients, but her efforts have also made the organization stronger and sustainable in many important and lasting ways. On behalf of the CRC Board and staff, I would to thank Kelleen for her tremendous service, leadership, and commitment to CRC and wish her the very best for her future.
Happy holidays and best wishes for a successful 2010!
Sarah Fischler
Interim Co-Director

Welcome Carol Nickell, CRC's New ED |
|

Carol brings extensive experience as a nonprofit leader, most recently as the Chief Executive Officer of NAHRA, a national professional membership association providing site accreditation and instructor certification for equine assisted activities and therapies. Before returning home to Colorado, Carol recently served as the executive director of the Nonprofit Support Center in Santa Barbara, California, an organization much like CRC. While with the Nonprofit Support Center, Carol led the organization in nearly doubling its budget and increasing its earned revenue streams by more than 40 percent. Carol brings over 20 years experience in capacity building, fundraising, community relations, and partnership development to CRC, as well as many years in policy development in local government and several years in corporate management.
In addition to her extensive experience leading nonprofit organizations, Carol brings a strong passion for CRC's work and a demonstrated commitment to the organization's values. "I am excited to join the team at CRC and to do what I love most, building strong communities by helping to build stronger nonprofits," Carol says.
The CRC Board of Directors thanks Interim Co-Directors Kelleen Zubick and Sarah Fischler, along with the rest of the CRC staff, for their hard work and dedication to CRC's mission during this transition, and warmly welcomes Carol Nickell as CRC's new Executive Director.

| Nonprofit Workbook Series Available in 2010 |
|
Community Resource Center is launching a new series of affordable guided workbooks in 2010, which will help nonprofit managers address some of their most pressing challenges-from starting a successful, sustainable nonprofit to identifying and implementing proven fundraising strategies to provide your organization with lasting results.
CRC will launch the first workbook in this series in mid-January 2010. This workbook will focus on Starting Smart: Setting Your Sights on Nonprofit Start-Up Success. This workbook has three goals: (1) Provide the background, information, planning, and action steps necessary to help start thriving nonprofits that meet a currently unmet pressing social or environmental need; (2) Provide a friendly reality check about what starting a successful, tenable, sustainable nonprofit organization really means and takes; and (3) providing best practices based on professional standards of the field for guiding and managing a nonprofit through the legal set-up process and early implementation. Workbooks will be promoted through upcoming newsletters and on our website, as they become available, so please stay posted. Questions about our first workbook or the series should be directed to Kara Penn, Consultant/Trainer, via email at penn@crcamerica.org.

For this month's "Where in Colorado?" we are inviting guesses on a photo from a different part of Colorado.
