Atlanta is the first city to display billboards with a new campaign to draw attention to the abortion statistics among African-Americans in the United States.

Catherine Davis of the Restoration Project is reporting that they have started a new billboard campaign to alert citizens that "something is wrong in the black community when it comes to abortion."

Most of history's despots and tyrants have forced their citizen to burn Bibles, for they have feared the Truth. Pray fervently for the Iranian Christians as well as for those who are now receiving the Gospel. Ask the Lord to use His mighty arm to protect the Christians in Iran. Ask the Lord to protect and bless the work of Elam to the Iranian Christians.

Iranian authorities began to systematically seize and destroy Bibles after a Shiite cleric issued an urgent warning about the spread of Christianity. Authorities in northwestern Iran seized 6,500 Bibles, according to the Iranian Christian news organization Mohabat News, which quotes an official as saying of the seizure that "all religions are strengthening their power to confront Islam; otherwise, what does this huge number of Bibles mean?" The agency has reported several other recent incidents of Bibles and other Christian literature being seized and sometimes publicly burned.

A Shi'ite cleric affiliated with the Iranian regime has warned about the "danger"  of Christianity spreading in the Islamic republic.

According to Mohabat News, an independent Iranian Christian news agency, Ayatollah Hadi Jahangosha expressed concern about "the spread of Christianity among our youth," citing the availability of Christian satellite television programs, books and objects.

"Everyone in society should feel responsibility in this matter and play his or her role in spreading of pure Islam and fight false and distorted cultures," Mohabat quoted him as saying during a presentation on Mahdism - the belief in the so-called "hidden" or 12th imam, prophesied to emerge at a time of future chaos.

When Iran in 2008 hosted a conference on "Religion in the Modern World," attended by former U.N. secretary-general Kofi Annan and other dignitaries, the Tehran Times in an op-ed said Iran's hosting of the event showed that its "ancient tradition of showing respect for different cultures and religions is still alive and well."

"The reality on the ground in Iran is quite different from what is being propagated by certain countries and organizations in their disinformation campaigns," it said.

One organization that provides Bibles for Iranians is Elam, which says it printed and distributed 100,000 Bibles and 100,000 New Testaments in 2010.

"Despite the limited support, well over a million New Testaments have been made available in recent years, and up to half a million whole Bibles," the organization says on its Web site. "And despite the ferocious hostility of the government in Iran to the Bible, brave Christians there have risked their lives to see their fellow countrymen read the Scriptures. Some are in prison now for their work."

Continue to ask the Lord to give wisdom and understanding to our world leaders concerning nuclear weapons and their potential for total destruction of God's creation. Pray for peaceful resolutions to all national issues that could potentially escalate into threats with countries like China, Pakistan, India, and Russia in the days ahead.

 China's rapid pace of nuclear energy growth is unique, and its impact on the global nuclear market as both a customer and potential future supplier is already tremendous and will continue to expand, says a recent Harvard University report. 

But there are other concerns regarding China's nuclear advancements on the military front as well.

China is expanding its nuclear forces with a new multi-warhead mobile missile and keeps its strategic stockpiles in deep underground bunkers, the Pentagon disclosed in its annual report to Congress on the Chinese military.

According to a 2003 study of China's nuclear forces conducted by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) stated, "Our best estimate is that China maintains an arsenal of about 400 warheads of two basic categories, some 250 "strategic" weapons structured in a "triad" of land-based missiles, bombers, and submarine-launched ballistic missiles. The emphasis of China's arsenal is primarily on the land-based missile leg of the triad. Additionally, China is thought to possess about 150 "tactical" weapons, made up of some or all of the following: low yield bombs for tactical bombardment, artillery shells, atomic demolition munitions, and possibly short range missiles." 

Now in 2011, China is thought to have up to 75 long-range nuclear missiles, including hard-to-find, road-mobile DF-31 and DF-31A intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), according to the report, which was released Wednesday. China also has 120 intermediate and medium-range missiles.

"China is both qualitatively and quantitatively improving its strategic missile forces," the report states. "Beijing will likely continue to invest considerable resources to maintain a limited nuclear force ... to ensure the [People's Liberation Army] can deliver a damaging retaliatory nuclear strike."

The report states for the first time that China appears to be developing a third road-mobile ICBM, possibly capable of carrying a multiple, independently targetable re-entry vehicle.

Additionally, the report provides new details on China's efforts to develop missile defenses and says China conducted a warhead-intercept test as part of the system.

A disclosure in the annual assessment reveals China's deep-underground facilities in the north that is connected with more than 3,000 miles of tunnels. The facilities are used for storing and hiding missiles and nuclear warheads, and for command bunkers hardened against nuclear attacks.

The labyrinthine tunnel system, dubbed by the Chinese-media as the "Underground Great Wall" (Dixia Changcheng), was built for concealing, mobilizing and deploying China's growing arsenal of nuclear weapons. According to military experts cited by various reports, the main purpose of the underground tunnel is to provide the SAC with a credible second-strike capability. The building of an underground tunnel for this purpose is consistent with China's evolving nuclear doctrine from its traditional posture of "minimum deterrence" to a doctrine of "limited deterrence," since the subterranean bunkers strengthen the survivability of China's nuclear forces and bolster its nuclear deterrence posture.

The Chinese military has been using the underground facilities since the early 1950s. U.S. officials said most details of Chinese nuclear arms previously were kept secret.

"China's strategic missile force, the Second Artillery Corps (SAC), has developed and utilized [underground facilities] since deploying its oldest liquid-fueled missile systems and continues to utilize them to protect and conceal their newest and most modern solid-fueled mobile missiles," the report says.

"Although secrecy and ambiguity remain China's predominant approach in the nuclear realm, occasional disclosure of information on some missile-related [underground facilities] is consistent with an effort to send strategic signals on the credibility of its limited nuclear arsenal," the report says.

 House Republicans are planning to introduce legislation Tuesday that will force major changes at the United Nations, an organization that the bill's author has called a "stew of corruption, mismanagement and negligence." 

The bill, by Republican House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, would require the UN adopt a voluntary budget model, in which countries selectively choose which UN agencies to fund.

It would end funding for Palestinian refugees, limit use of U.S. funds to only purposes outlined by Congress and stop contributions to peacekeeping operations until management changes are made.

Ros-Lehtinen's aim in shifting the UN budget to a voluntary system is to encourage competition for funds and therefore elicit more effective performance from UN agencies, said a House aide familiar with the legislation. He wasn't authorized to speak on the record.

The legislation would also limit the use of U.S. contributions to only the specific purposes outlined by Congress and would withhold U.S. funding for any UN agency that upgrades the status of the Palestinian observer mission or any agency that helps Palestinian refugees.

The bill would also withhold funding for the UN Human Rights Council until the State Department can certify that it doesn't include members subject to Security Council sanctions (under Security Council-mandated investigations for human rights abuses), or members who are state sponsors of terrorism.

The legislation represents the leading edge of Republican moves against the world body at a time when the Obama administration is increasingly building its foreign policy around multilateral institutions, making the alliance-based approach central to its stance on Libya. The bill may advance in the Republican-controlled House, but is likely to hit opposition in the Senate and from Obama.

Also within this House appropriations bill is a provision of "$25,000,000 for fiscal year 2012 for resettlement of refugees in Israel."

Republicans are not the only ones concerned about growing spending at the United Nations. Speaking on behalf of the United States, senior U.S. diplomat Joseph Torsella recently objected to a nearly 3 percent cost of living raise to the approximately 5,000 UN employees in New York City, saying that "a raise is inappropriate at this time of global fiscal austerity, when member state governments everywhere are implementing drastic austerity measures."
