"The Obama Administration, together with the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, have worked to address the problems of the widespread housing crisis and the difficulties that many Americans have had in making monthly mortgage payments. On May 19, 2009, the House voted to pass Senate Bill 896, which President Obama signed into law on May 20, 2009. The new law is entitled "Helping Families Save Their Homes Act" ("Helping Families") and it serves to expand the scope of the Administration's Making Home Affordable Programs."
