The awards program-now in its second year- honors "success stories" in local and state collaboration between the United States and Mexico. The program is organized by the Border Research Partnership, comprising the North American Center for Transborder Studies at Arizona State University, Mexico's El Colegio de la Frontera Norte (COLEF) and the Mexico Institute at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C. The winners were selected by an independent bi-national selection committee.

The winning crossborder collaborations represent the range of activities that happen every day to make life in the border region safer, healthier, cleaner, and more prosperous along the U.S.-Mexico Border.  The winners for 2012 include government agencies, non-profits, and institutions that deeply engage regional stakeholders and enhance the lives of residents on both sides of the border and come from the fields of law, health, migration and music.
