Super Bowl Party

This Sunday the youth will be gathering to watch the Super Bowl together and enjoy snacks and food.  Unfortunately the 49er's won't be playing, but that won't stop our fun.  All middle and high school youth are invited, so please RSVP to Doug at Click Doug's link here if you're coming!

Diocesan Retreat

Song of the Church, a brief overview of the practice of church music with a focus on American practices, including why we sing what we sing.

St. Stephen's Gives Back

Outreach Group Meeting Today
 

St. Stephen's outreach group is meeting today after church in the Library.  Everyone interested in service, charity, the environment, and justice is welcome to join us as we make plans and share great ideas.

The Choir of the Cathedral of the Madeleine

Friday, 10 February at 8pm
Madeleine Cathedral Choristers 

Established in 1996, the Madeleine Choir School has provided an opportunity for elementary school children to sing in a professionally based cathedral choir that has since grown into a first class ensemble.  St. Stephen's will host this ensemble next Friday the 10th.

 

Under the direction of Dr. Gregory Glenn, the Madeleine Choir has performed with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the Utah Symphony and the San Francisco Opera to name a few.

 

Free will donations will be accepted.

Next Sunday,  The Very Rev. Alan Jones, former dean of Grace Cathedral and prolific author, will be preaching and teaching (following the 10am service). His topic for teaching will be, "The Crisis of Faith -- Believing isn't what it used to be: A look at the whirlwind of the 21st century."

Annie Lamott

Sunday, 19 February

 

Join us on February 19 in Kimball Hall, following the 10am service, as we welcome Annie Lamott, who will offer readings from her upcoming book, Some Assembly Required (a sequel to Operating Instructions, to be published this Spring).  Annie's son, Sam, will be join her (he was the unwitting subject of Operating Instructions.)  This special educational event offers St. Stephen's the opportunity to help a sister church, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Marin City, which is raising money to continue its nursery school program for the little guys (dubbed, the "Colleagues").  Hence, we will take a second offering on February 19, so please come ready to give generously.

Anasazi Luncheon with the Rev. Jan Heglund

Jan HeglundThe word, "Anasazi," means "Ancient Ones." The senior members of St. Stephens would like to invite the younger members of St. Stephen's (perhaps young parents) to a special meeting of Anasazi, February 16, 11am-1pm,  an opportunity for us to bring the generations together over lunch.  Jan Heglund, Chaplain to the SF FBI and the San Rafael Police Department will be on hand to share stories.  Please RSVP to Zoila Schoenbrun Zoila's email click or Lois Cannady Email click for Lois if you can attend.
